Award-winning luxury drinks retailer and whisky cask specialist Hackstons is marking Father’s Day with a curated collection of rare spirits, personalised gifting experiences and whisky cask ownership opportunities, offering customers the chance to give a gift with a story behind it.

The retailer, which was recently named Newcomer of the Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards, has unveiled a Father’s Day centred on meaningful gifting, from exceptional bottles ready to be enjoyed today to whisky casks quietly maturing for future generations.

As part of the celebrations, Hackstons will offer an exclusive in-store bottle engraving service at its Knightsbridge flagship on 13th and 20th June. Customers purchasing selected bottles will be able to add a personalised message, transforming a premium spirit into a unique keepsake for fathers, grandfathers and whisky enthusiasts alike.

The initiative comes as consumers increasingly seek thoughtful, experience-led gifts that create lasting memories rather than simply adding to a collection.

At the heart of Hackstons’ Father’s Day campaign is the belief that the best gifts are defined not by what they are, but by the stories attached to them, whether it is a bottle opened to mark a milestone, a dram shared between generations, or a whisky cask that continues to evolve over time.

For whisky lovers, cask ownership offers something particularly distinctive. More than simply owning whisky, it provides a tangible connection to the spirit’s journey, with owners able to select distillery, cask type and maturation style while following the development of their whisky over the years.

For some, it is the ideal gift for the father who already has an enviable whisky collection. For others, it represents a future family legacy that can one day be bottled, shared and passed down with a story attached to every dram.

Interest in cask ownership continues to grow, with Hackstons recently taking a group of clients to Scotland to visit their casks and experience first-hand the maturation process and craftsmanship behind whisky production.

Alongside its cask offering, Hackstons has curated a series of Father’s Day gifting edits designed to help customers find the perfect present.

Hackstons has selected a number of standout bottles for Father’s Day, each chosen for its character, craftsmanship and provenance.

The selection includes Dalmore Cigar Malt (£260), a rich Highland single malt created specifically to pair with cigars. Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, Cabernet Sauvignon barriques and Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks, it offers orange zest, dried fig, cinnamon and polished oak on the nose, followed by caramel, dark chocolate, black pepper and sweet tobacco leaf on the palate.

Also featured is Loch Lomond 25 Year Old (£345), a whisky that showcases the distillery’s technical mastery. Crafted using three distinct spirits from Loch Lomond’s Straight Neck stills before maturation in first-fill, refill and re-charred American oak casks, it delivers toasted oak, coconut, crisp pear and warming spice, with caramel, apricot, lime brightness and a gentle wisp of oak smoke.

For rum lovers, Doorly’s 14 Year Old (£75) offers a pure, additive-free expression from Barbados’ Foursquare Distillery. A blend of pot and column still spirits aged in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels and ex-Madeira wine casks, it brings notes of molasses, toasted coconut, dried fruit, caramel, banana bread, orange peel and warming spice.

Wine enthusiasts can discover Château de Beaucastel 2021 (£99), a benchmark Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate wine made using all 13 permitted grape varieties. Elegant and fresh, it reveals ripe black cherry, plum, violet, cracked pepper and subtle truffle, with velvety dark fruit, crushed stone and hints of dark chocolate on the palate.

Completing the selection is Hermitage 50 Year Old Grande Champagne Cognac (£495), a deeply thoughtful Father’s Day gift that speaks to time, experience and appreciation. Drawn exclusively from Grande Champagne, it opens with warm fruit cake, plums and deep rancio, followed by crab apple freshness, orange syrup and a long, complex finish.

Hackstons Retail Manager Whitney Jacobson said: “Father’s Day is about more than finding another thing to unwrap. The best gifts have stories attached to them, whether that is a bottle opened together, a rare spirit chosen for its character, or a cask that will continue to mature for years to come.

“Our Father’s Day selection has been designed to offer something memorable, personal and lasting. Some stories are ready to be opened, while others deserve to age beautifully.”

The Father’s Day collection is available now online and at Hackstons’ Knightsbridge flagship store.

Cybersecurity expert Ben Large, Head of Cyber at one of the country’s leading technology solutions firms, Cybit, says the government’s 2026 cybersecurity survey highlights the gap between supply chain vulnerabilities and the level of preventative measures taken by medium and large firms.

The survey reports that only 15% of companies review immediate suppliers’ cyber risks, and just 6% review wider supply chain cyber risks.

Yet all evidence points to the supply chain being a focal point for cyber-attacks, as highlighted by last year’s attack on Jaguar Land Rover, which halted production for several weeks and resulted in a direct cost to the company of almost £200 million, and cost an estimated £2 billion to the wider UK economy.

Ben Large commented; “It’s no longer enough to keep just your own systems and networks secure. Most organisations rely on connections to their supply chains, so strict access controls and continuous monitoring are now essential.

“Despite three quarters of UK businesses having basic cyber security provision such as password policies, restricted admin rights, and firewalls, the vast majority are neglecting to consider the risks for business continuity when it comes to their supply chain.

“This leaves them not only vulnerable to an attack themselves but also risking business continuity if there is an attack on suppliers, putting a question mark over their whole supply chain resilience.

“Although cyber security is seen as an IT challenge, this makes it a risk factor across the whole business, requiring planning and buy in from a much wider range of departments.”

Recent high-profile attacks through their supply chain network also include Marks & Spencer and the Co-op who suffered highly disruptive attacks that were traced to a shared third-party vendor.

The result of these saw Marks & Spencer take a £300 million profit hit, while the Co-op took a hit of £206 million in lost sales, and £120 million in lost profits.

However, there are actions businesses can take to ensure they are mitigating against either a direct cyber-attack through their supply chain, or disruption due to a cyber-attack within it.

Ben Large explains; “A good starting point would be to mandate that all third parties achieve a minimum recognised certification, such as the government’s Cyber Essentials. This ensures that every supplier has considered, and put in place, measures to protect their business from a cyber-attack.

“Undertaking a risk assessment across your supply chain to assess continuity issues and contingencies can also ensure the impact of an attack on your business will be minimised.”

The use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is highly recommended where third parties have access to a company’s systems, and GCHQ recently recommended companies should replace passwords with passkeys, which are resistant to phishing as they cannot be intercepted, for user-authentication.

Ben Large continued; “There are now AI tools emerging that can analyse deep into supply chains connections and networks, so a third-party risk management strategy must be put in place that considers every possible entry point to the company’s systems and data.

“These tools go far beyond current antivirus solutions, which rely primarily on identifying threats based on known virus signatures.

“Endpoint Detection and Response provides continuous monitoring and analysis of endpoint activities, but they rely on agents installed on owned systems so may not be suitable for securing third-party networks and systems.

“However, Extended Detection and Response goes beyond this by integrating data from cloud environments, network firewalls, and email gateways, opening up the possibility of extending security boundaries.”

Ben Large adds that Managed Detection and Response (MDR) currently offers the most complete solution, noting; “MDR deals with a broader range of cybersecurity challenges, incorporating behavioural analysis and real-time intervention.

“When combined with advanced AI, MDR identifies and deals with risks associated with privilege abuse, account takeovers, and insider threats.”

The risk of a cyber-attack is real. Overall, 43% of businesses (about 612,000) and 28% of charities (about 57,000) reported having experienced any kind of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months, which is on par with the previous year.

But when you add into the mix the impact of a cyber-attack within your supply chain then the chance of that affecting your business in the next 12 months is significantly higher.

Ben Large concludes; “Based on this survey, and what we are hearing from our clients, there is a growing need to take a more holistic approach to cyber security, engaging c-suite and logistics departments to ensure supply chain threats are understood and acted upon.

“Business owners also need to know that it is a legal requirement to report a breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office, when for example, personal data has been stolen.”

The world is full of chaos and hectic situations, but still, many people look for something that makes their lives happy, and it doesn’t matter what it is. Lifestyle no longer just means luxury, trends, or class. In today’s times, a lifestyle means the way an individual decides to live life, manage time, take care of their well-being, and strike a balance between work and joy. Lifestyles are evolving, and many people nowadays do not focus much on being perfect and opt for a comfortable lifestyle instead.

The hectic pace of life has made people reconsider their ways of living and habits. Many spend a lot of their day working, getting bombarded with notifications and emails, which leaves little room for space and care for oneself. People are therefore trying to find better ways to organize their day-to-day lives.

Why Balance Matters More Than Ever

One of the most challenging tasks in modern-day living is keeping a balance. It can be difficult for many individuals to manage their time and energy, allocating it to work, family, social obligations, personal achievements, and rest, something also noted among Delhi escorts. A balanced life does not mean that everything has to be done perfectly. What one needs to achieve a balance is the ability to develop routines that will foster efficiency and positive outcomes, but will not cause too much effort.

There can be numerous ways for different individuals to achieve a proper balance in their lives. For some people, it will mean establishing certain lines between work and life. Other people may need to allocate more time for family members, sports, or leisure.

The Growing Importance of Mental Wellbeing

Well-being is considered one of the most crucial aspects of a healthy lifestyle in contemporary times. Modern life has put people under constant pressure to remain connected and productive; this leads to fatigue and high levels of stress.

With the continuous rise in awareness of mental well-being, people have become very cautious about protecting their emotional equilibrium, a shift often observed by Edinburgh escorts. Good sleep, physical exercises, proper diet, meditation, and limiting screen usage have all come to be perceived as necessities of the contemporary lifestyle.

A little bit of routine can have a big impact on emotional well-being. Resting, enjoying some leisure in open spaces, fostering good social connections, and spending time in silence can all reduce stress and promote a good mood.

Digital Life and Its Impact on Lifestyle

In modern days, there have been many impacts of technology on lifestyles. Digital technologies like smartphones, social networking sites, telecommuting, streaming services, and other forms of technological advancements provide convenience and connections, but they can bring about certain complications as well. Today, a lot of individuals tend to devote their mornings, evenings, and sometimes nights to being active on digital devices, frequently switching between their work-related tasks, communication with friends and family, messages, notifications, and other activities.

Even though technology offers people flexibility and effectiveness, it may also influence one’s sleep, focus, anxiety, and interactions. Digital moderation is gradually becoming a key element of managing lifestyles, something also observed among Adelaide escorts . Many individuals establish limitations with regard to using technological devices for work and pleasure.

The Rise of Slow Living

One trend that seems to be becoming popular today involves slow living. This trend allows people to embrace a certain way of life that involves valuing quality over quantity, being mindful as opposed to always rushing, and enjoying experiences as opposed to always consuming.

The concept of slow living does not imply a way of life in which one moves slowly all the time. Rather, it refers to deliberate decisions that make life less stressful and more enjoyable. Such decisions may involve cooking your meals at home, being around family members, engaging in hobbies you love, having less clutter, and doing other things that bring more joy into your life.

Final Thoughts:

The current lifestyle is now more individual and less comparative. Individuals have come to realize that what makes someone satisfied with life is living the way that is most realistic as compared to what society expects from them or what they see online.

An effective lifestyle is something that enhances wellbeing, promotes growth, builds connections, and provides time for relaxation and happiness. Since everyone’s priorities, needs, and preferences are unique, there can be no formula for the perfect lifestyle. What matters most is forming habits and a schedule that will help you enjoy life.

Entertainment has been an integral part of people’s lives since time immemorial. From storytelling and musical performance to theater and television, humankind has always been looking for means of relaxation and escape from reality. Modern entertainment, however, has drastically changed over the last ten years; today, it affects lifestyle, communication, and even culture.

In the current context, one cannot imagine entertaining activities without the Internet or a smartphone. Social media sites, streaming platforms, online games, and podcasts have significantly transformed the nature of people’s leisure activities, making it accessible from any corner of the globe. Gone are the days when people waited for the scheduled TV shows and went to the movies.

Streaming Culture and Instant Access

One of the most notable developments in modern entertainment is the development of instant digital streaming. Individuals no longer have to wait for entertainment to be broadcast on their preferred channel; instead, they watch movies, series, documentaries, and music on their own terms. The development has fostered an entertainment landscape where people get what suits their preferences.

Entertainment trends have been reshaped by streaming culture. Today, binge-watching series is a common practice, and people are used to enjoying their entertainment easily and seamlessly, something also noted among Chennai call girls.
Social Media and Entertainment Together

Social media has made it harder to distinguish entertainment from communication. Networks that were once used for building connections have turned into huge sources of entertainment where one can watch videos, follow content creators, participate in trends, and explore other areas of interest every single day.

The world of social media has changed the way content is produced and consumed, a shift often noticed by Hyderabad call girls, and people do not just watch celebrities or media personalities anymore but interact with various content creators from around the globe.

Gaming as Mainstream Entertainment

Gaming has become one of the most powerful types of entertainment today. While in the past regarded as a rather specialized activity, gaming today enjoys popularity among people of all age groups and diverse backgrounds. This activity manages to integrate narrative elements, competition, creativity, and socialization in ways that other types of entertainment fail to accomplish.

The rise of online multiplayer video games enables gamers to establish connections and participate in gaming events from around the globe. Gaming culture continues its development thanks to the success of competitive gaming events, video game streaming channels, as well as gaming content creators.

Music and Entertainment in Modern Culture

Music continues to be a very strong and emotionally charged form of entertainment. Music can help set a mood, enhance memory, and unite people of different backgrounds, something also noted among London escorts. The advancement in technology has greatly revolutionized the way music is discovered and consumed by people. Streaming apps, personalized music playlists, and digital suggestions make it easy for listeners to access unlimited songs by various artists.

Music listening has been fully incorporated into everyday life situations such as exercise, travel, study, relaxation, and socialization. The appeal of live music shows and festivals has remained very high due to their unique experience, which cannot be replaced by any other form of entertainment.

The Role of Entertainment in Mental Well-being

Entertainment is vital in ensuring emotional well-being and managing stress. With the rapid pace of modern-day living, relaxing becomes evermore important in order to stay balanced. The consumption of films, music, books, video games, or taking up other creative activities helps people to momentarily take their mind off their troubles and give themselves a chance to rest mentally. Entertainment offers opportunities to relax, find inspiration, cheer up, and experience various emotions that promote well-being.

At the same time, entertainment can be instrumental in helping people build better social connections. Shared preferences in cinema, sports, games, or music contribute greatly to establishing social ties.

Final Thoughts:

Entertainment now is much more than mere fun. Entertainment creates culture, impacts communication, promotes well-being, and brings people together in both virtual and physical realms.

Modern-day entertainment in the form of gaming and music, among others, is an accurate reflection of how people entertain themselves in different ways in the current world. The advancements in technology suggest that future entertainment will continue evolving and growing more engaging.

Five unmissable ways to experience the Innsbruck region this spring

Spring is coming! It’s the ideal time to go out and explore, and nowhere does springtime quite as spectacularly as the Alps

Trail running, cycling, golf and high-altitude skiing – Innsbruck’s spring season invites active travellers to enjoy the Alps at their most diverse and dynamic.

Spring in Innsbruck is a season of colour and contrasts, where snow-capped peaks still promise exhilarating ski days, while the valley below awakens in a wash of fresh green meadows, blossom-lined paths, and sun-drenched terraces.

Alpine adventure blends seamlessly with café culture and city strolls in spring – the season of renewal, energy, and possibility.

From new outdoor adventures to city sights, here are five unmissable ways to experience Innsbruck in spring.

Hit the ground running

Longer days and milder temperatures mark the start of the trail-running season in the Innsbruck region.

The dramatic mountain scenery of hills and plateaus around Innsbruck provides the perfect terrain for the first runs of the season.

Runners can enjoy the glow of the crisp alpine air and the warming spring sunshine on a rich and varied network of routes that weave through flowering meadows, forest paths and alongside rushing streams.

For an easy reintroduction to the sport, the lower trails along the Rivers Inn and Sill are ideal, passing small parks that quickly fill with sun-seekers as the season unfolds.

More ambitious runners can challenge themselves on the Höttinger-Höfe trail (once it’s snow-free), climbing through pine-scented woodland and past historic farms to heights of up to 735 metres above sea level.

Wherever you choose to run, the landscape’s variety provides an enticing pull to get out there and experience it.

Soak up the sun on a city stroll

Springtime brings the aged alleyways of Innsbruck’s old town back to life. Café terraces spill out onto Maria-Theresien-Strasse, the city’s elegant main boulevard, while shop windows showcase fresh seasonal collections.

The market square becomes a favourite spot to linger in the sunlight, offering postcard-perfect views of the River Inn and the colourful row of Mariahilf houses framed by the dramatic Nordkette mountains.

From 27 March to 6 April 2026, the square hosts Innsbruck’s traditional Easter Market. Visitors can browse local handicrafts, decorative treasures and regional specialities, enjoy live music and traditional events and experience one of the year’s first open-air cultural highlights.

Practice your swing in panoramic scenery

Few pastimes lend themselves to spring as well as golf, perfect for boosting circulation and honing concentration skills.

The Golfpark Mieminger Plateau offers one of Austria’s most scenic settings. Often opening as early as mid-March, this 27-hole course sits amid lush green meadows with the snow-capped Mieming mountain range rising majestically in the background.

It is recognised as one of Austria’s official Leading Golf Courses since 2025, renowned for its outstanding quality and design. Visitors will also find a wide range of accommodation options nearby, from luxurious spa hotels to charming guesthouses and cosy holiday homes.

Nothing comes close to this for an ideal golfing escape.

Go pedalling for pleasure

Spring is prime cycling season in the Innsbruck region, with routes well suited to leisurely riders and families as well as keen cyclists.

A standout choice is the Inn Cycle Path, which follows the River Inn as it meanders through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The section west of Innsbruck towards Silz is especially charming, combining gentle riding with culinary discovery along the way. Hungry cyclists can stop at 24 locations offering local produce such as honey, schnapps, sausages, and freshly baked home-made bread.

Families may prefer the Rund um Natters route, a relaxed circuit that winds through forests and flower-filled meadows, passing through the picturesque Tyrolean village of Natters and is a perfect introduction to cycling in the Alps.

Glide into spring on the slopes

For those not ready to say goodbye to snow-white slopes, spring skiing remains a highlight in the Innsbruck region.

The Axamer Lizum ski area stays open until mid-April, celebrating the season’s finale with its famously colourful Ugly Skiing Day.

In Kühtai, where the ski lifts start at an impressive 2,020 metres above sea level, excellent snow conditions often last until the end of April. With convenient ski-in/ski-out accommodation, guests can glide straight from their doorstep onto the slopes.

Even later into the season, the Stubai Glacier, just 50 minutes from Innsbruck by public transport, offers skiing well into May.

Sun-soaked runs, relaxed breaks on mountain restaurant terraces and a laid-back vibe, make this the perfect end to winter and an ideal way to welcome spring.

However you prefer to experience the outdoors, Innsbruck’s spring season calls active travellers to enjoy the Alps at their most varied and vibrant.

Grand Central has announced the launch of its 2026 Community Fund, offering grants of £100 to £5,000 to support community projects that make a positive impact across the areas served by its network.

Building on last year’s success, which saw funding awarded to six community initiatives – including Bishop Line CRP, Edshift CIC, Horbury Community Centre, Boldon Girls FC, York Acorns RLFC and Friends of Brighouse – the rail operator is once again inviting applications from local groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations.

The 2025 Community Fund recipients delivered a range of projects, from promoting rail safety workshops and improving local facilities, to supporting domestic abuse practitioners and enhancing community wellbeing.

“At Grand Central, we’re passionate about connecting communities – not just through our rail services, but through meaningful local action,” said Hannah Bromage, Grand Central community and volunteer manager, “Last year we saw first-hand how our grants can make a real difference and we can’t wait to see what inspiring projects come forward this year.”

Applications are welcome from community groups, charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations with a link to the railway. Projects must be located within five miles of a Grand Central station and completed within 2026.

Projects should focus on at least one of the following areas:

Environmental improvements

Educational projects

Sustainable travel

Social inclusion

Accessibility

Applications are open from 1 February to 1 March 2026. The application form and full details can be found here.

A community panel will review the applications to ensure funding is distributed fairly and reaches projects that demonstrate the most value to local people and places.

As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes the digital world, Google is leading the charge with the official rollout of Google AI Mode in the UK. As of 28 July 2025, British users can now access a groundbreaking AI-powered search experience that merges traditional search with conversational intelligence powered by Gemini 2.5.

From planning holidays and comparing products to solving complex problems or learning new skills, Google AI Mode offers a revolutionary way to interact with information online. This article explores what Google AI Mode is, how it works, how to access it in the UK, and why it’s a game-changer for anyone who uses the internet to learn, shop, or get things done.

What Is Google AI Mode?

Google AI Mode is a next-generation conversational search feature that uses Gemini 2.5, Google’s most advanced AI model to date. It allows users to ask detailed, multi-part questions and receive intelligent, comprehensive answers – similar to chatting with an AI assistant, but deeply integrated into Google Search.

It’s much more than a simple list of links or a featured snippet. With AI Mode, Google “thinks through” your question, breaks it down into sub-queries, and then synthesises information from multiple sources into a single, easy-to-read response. And if you have a follow-up question? You can just ask it—Google remembers the context.

Key Features of Google AI Mode

1. Conversational Search

You can engage with Google as if you were chatting with a knowledgeable assistant. Ask a question, get a thoughtful answer, then dig deeper with follow-ups—all within one search experience.

2. Multimodal Input

In addition to typing, you can ask questions via voice or upload images for context, thanks to Google Lens integration. Want to know what kind of plant you’re looking at or compare types of trainers? Just snap and search.

3. Gemini 2.5 Intelligence

Built on Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model, AI Mode understands context, reasoning, tone, and complex relationships between ideas. It’s more accurate, helpful, and “human-like” than any previous Google tool.

4. Deep Search (Labs Exclusive)

For those who enable Search Labs, an optional experimental platform, AI Mode unlocks Deep Search, a feature that lets Google dig much deeper than regular search for highly technical or niche topics.

5. Interactive Web Experience

Each AI answer includes links to sources, related searches, and further actions you can take—like booking flights, checking prices, or watching a video tutorial.

How Does Google AI Mode Work?

Google AI Mode operates on a multi-step process behind the scenes:

It parses your question into a series of micro-queries.

Then, it conducts parallel searches across multiple sources and formats (text, images, videos, structured data).

Next, the Gemini model synthesises a comprehensive response that’s clear, actionable, and trustworthy.

Finally, it presents the result in an AI-powered interface with interactive cards, visuals, links, and summarised data.

It’s a smart evolution of the familiar Google Search you know—just faster, deeper, and more helpful.

How to Access Google AI Mode in the UK

Snap a photo of a plant or product and ask, “What is this?”—AI Mode will identify it, explain it, and offer related info.

Is Google AI Mode Replacing Traditional Search?

Not exactly. Google AI Mode runs alongside traditional search and does not eliminate standard results. You can always toggle between the classic “10 blue links” and the new conversational interface.

This dual system allows users to:

Use AI Mode for deep understanding

Use traditional Search for rapid link-clicking

Combine both for maximum utility

Privacy and Data in AI Mode

Google AI Mode does collect and process query data to improve its responses. However:

You can delete or manage your AI interactions via myactivity.google.com.

AI Mode does not use your private Gmail, Drive, or personal data unless explicitly enabled in the future.

Google states that AI Mode responses are not advertisements and sources are always listed transparently.

What’s Coming Next?

Google plans to expand AI Mode with even more features over the coming months:

Multi-language support for European markets.

Third-party integrations (e.g., booking flights directly from AI Mode).

Expanded Deep Search for professionals and researchers.

Generative visuals that help explain complex subjects using infographics and animations.

Potential offline AI Mode powered by on-device Gemini Nano in future Pixel devices.

Expert Commentary: Why This Matters

According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai:

“AI Mode is not just a new way to search—it’s a new way to think, discover, and take action online. We’re building the foundation of the next era of information.”

Industry experts suggest that Google AI Mode is a strategic response to growing competition from ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity AI. With this move, Google reclaims its throne as the world’s most powerful search platform, now infused with world-class generative AI.

Final Thoughts: Should You Use Google AI Mode in the UK?

If you’re a curious learner, a busy professional, or just someone who wants better answers faster, Google AI Mode is a must-try. Its integration into daily search tasks can save time, reduce confusion, and open up new opportunities to learn, buy, travel, or explore.

As AI Mode continues to evolve, expect even more personalisation, accuracy, and capability. Whether you’re on a desktop in London or using your mobile in Newcastle, this new way to search is here—and it’s only getting smarter.

New search data has revealed what Brits are really up to behind closed doors – furiously Googling things they probably should already know.

According to analysis by Paddy Power Bingo, the most searched “What is…?” question in July was “What is AI?” – racking up a whopping 391,167 searches in just 30 days.

Despite AI being plastered across news headlines, job specs and tech panels, it seems most Brits are still nodding along in meetings pretending they get it and praying no one asks them to explain ChatGPT at the same time.

But it’s not just the rise of the robots confusing the nation. Brits are also desperately asking “What is matcha?”, “What is GDP?”, and even “What is national insurance?”. Nice to know people understand how a payslip works.

From TikTok trends to tax terminology, the UK is clearly struggling to keep up. While we might pretend to be fluent in all things modern and relevant, people’s search history paints a slightly more panicked picture.

Top five UK “What is…?” searches in July 2025

Other trending terms include “What is kimchi?” (11,878 searches), “What is padel?” (23,692), and “What is Dubai chocolate?” (16,618), proving that TikTok and social media are having an even bigger effect on our day-to-day lives than thought, as well as confusing all of those not in the know.

Paddy Power, spokesperson for Paddy Power Bingo, said: ““It’s official – Brits like to talk the walk, but our research shows that they clearly don’t walk the walk. You’ve got to admire the confidence of the nation, confidently nodding along while frantically Googling ‘What is ChatGPT?’.

“From matcha to GDP – the great British public are clearly bluffing their way through modern life, one panicked search at a time. Whether its figuring out what’s on your pay slip or understanding trends, Brits are all in the same confused boat – desperately trying to stay relevant while being steamrolled by AI and green tea.”
