Running from 23rd July to 2nd August, this year’s show promises a perilous and beautiful journey through the fearful symmetry of the human experience.

Created by a team of world-class circus artists, producers and culinary creatives, including Lil Rice, Sam Goodburn and Dave Cross, Fools Delight blends the most spellbinding circus artistry with an exquisite three-course communal feast.

Inspired by William Blake’s iconic poem, Tyger is a bold exploration of the contradictions and dichotomies within us all. The production will feature a series of stunning circus duos that bring this duality to life through high-skill acrobatics and aerial dance, exploring the fearful symmetry inherent in the human spirit.

Resident clown Sam Goodburn returns to light the way through the spectacle, joined by the electrifying presence of drag queen Force Majeure, Lil Rice on vocals and the Cyr wheel, and a cast of fallen angels. The performance will be further heightened by dramatic elemental displays, featuring both fire and water acts.

A Feast for the Senses

True to the Fools Delight tradition, the Dinner Show remains at the heart of this year’s run of shows. Guests will enjoy a mouth-watering three-course feast created by Head Chef Dave Cross, whose culinary magic is designed to flow seamlessly with the performance. This summer features 10 exclusive dinner shows, ensuring an intimate atmosphere where the performative plating makes every guest part of the story. 

Daytime Delights and Special Guests

Fool’s Delight 2026 summer season also offers a variety of daytime programming and special cultural events. For the first time, legendary clown Tweedy will bring his high energy to Fools Delight for a series of brand new solo daytime shows, followed by family-focused Fools Day performances towards the end of the run. 

Wild Arts will also be taking over the Fools Big Top to perform two nights of Opera on Monday 21st and Tuesday 28th of July. 

The Young Fools Initiative

This year also marks the official launch of the Young Fools Initiative, a programme dedicated to supporting young professionals during the challenging transition between completing their training and securing their first professional role. 

By providing a pathway for young people in rural areas to enter the professional arts world, the initiative offers real-world mentorship in vital positions such as assistant director, company manager, costume and tent mistress roles. This provides a high-pressure, real-life scenario that allows emerging talent to put their learning into practice while supported by seasoned industry professionals.

The auction, the first Buxton classic car sale that H&H Classics is holding this year, takes place on Wednesday 29^th April with some of the early entries paying homage to a golden era of motoring a century ago.

This includes a 1928 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Windovers Tourer, estimated at £30,000-£35,000 which has coachwork supplied new to Hari Singh, the last ruling Maharaja of Kashmir until the monarchy was abolished in 1952.

The car, which would be a highly rewarding and potentially valuable restoration project, is a combination of the chassis and engine, and coachwork, from two different Phantoms. It is entered from a significant private collection in which it has been for some four decades.

Another significant Rolls-Royce taking centre stage at the Buxton auction, and also in need of restoration, is a 1924 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost that was first owned by Otto Oppenheimer of the De Beers diamond empire.

Estimated at £12,000-£15,000, it still has its original engine, while it was initially supplied with Pullman Cabriolet coachwork by the renowned H. J. Mulliner, and is now described as ‘a true diamond in the rough’.

James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: “We’re delighted to be returning to the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton in 2026 as it’s always been a popular venue where we’ve seen some fantastic auctions over the years.

“It looks like we’re going to have another incredible sale, not least with an interesting assortment from the 1920s which are joined by modern classics and other highly desirable models from decades past.”

Indeed, another car more than one hundred years old and going under the hammer is a 1925 Sunbeam 14/40 Tourer, which has previously featured in the 90s television series, Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Estimated at £28,000-£34,000, it is a more usable Colonial model, has been well used in recent years and still presents excellently.

Meanwhile, from the following decade is a rare 1939 Triumph Dolomite 14/60 ‘Foursome Coupe’, one of just three surviving examples and believed to be the only one on UK roads.

This Art Deco-inspired model with considerable restoration investment is estimated at £34,000-£38,000, and has particular historical significance as one of the final cars manufactured prior to the outbreak of the Second World War.

James added: “This will be our third auction so far this year, following a successful classic car sale in Nottinghamshire and an amazing classic motorcycle auction in the West Midlands, and presents a great opportunity for classic car enthusiasts and collectors to acquire the car they’ve always dreamt of.”

All lots will be available to view in person at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, from midday on Tuesday 28^th April and from 9am on Wednesday 29^th April, while the sale then commences at 12pm.

Taking place inside Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, at Utilita Arena Newcastle upon Tyne, the special sessions will be held at 9:00am on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July, with additional dates to be announced due to expected demand.

Each 50-minute class will be led by a qualified instructor and is designed to be accessible for all abilities, from beginners to experienced practitioners. The sessions will focus on gentle movement, breathwork and relaxation, encouraging participants to fully engage with their surroundings.

Set within a 10,000 sq ft digital gallery, Beyond Van Gogh brings more than 300 of the artist’s most celebrated works to life using cutting-edge projection technology and a specially curated musical soundtrack. During the yoga sessions, guests will be immersed in iconic paintings including The Starry Night, Sunflowers and Café Terrace at Night, as the artworks flow and transform across walls and floors.

The experience offers a rare opportunity to combine wellness with culture, creating a calming and visually stunning environment that enhances both physical and mental wellbeing.

Following each session, participants are invited to explore the full exhibition at their leisure, including a specially designed reflection space featuring a striking Sunflower Alley inspired by Van Gogh’s work.

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience runs at Utilita Arena Newcastle from Sunday 12 July to Sunday 9 August 2026, transforming one of the region’s leading entertainment venues into a spectacular multi-sensory art experience.

American singer-songwriter Gary Marks will release Crossroads, a vinyl album spanning a lifetime of work, as an official Record Store Day UK & Europe exclusive on April 18, 2026.

This one-day RSD exclusive comes from an artist whose first three albums have become highly collectible cult classics in Europe and Japan, with original copies reselling for between $400 and $1,000.

Gary Marks first emerged in the 1970s with three self-produced albums — Gathering, Upon Oanda’s Wing, and Thoughts of Why — now regarded as classics among vinyl collectors in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Those early recordings featured musicians who would later become giants of modern jazz, including guitarist John Scofield, Paul McCandless (of the jazz group Oregon), David Samuels, Mark Isham, Art Lande, and Michael Cochrane. Marks’ debut album, Gathering, marked the first-ever studio appearance of a then 21-year-old John Scofield.

While his early releases earned critical praise, Marks stepped away from touring in the mid-1980s, choosing instead to continue writing and recording independently. Over the following decades, he quietly released eight albums through his own website, building a devoted following while remaining largely outside the industry’s touring-driven spotlight — until now.

Released via Lantern Heights Records, Crossroads is both a rediscovery and a reckoning: a rare opportunity to encounter a songwriter whose music remains vital, and whose lyrics speak directly to the socio-political climate of the present day.

Groovy Shirt Club are a London-based collective making groove-driven, intelligently written music rooted in real musicianship and lived experience. Built around songwriter and guitarist Rob O’Neil, the band came together during the pandemic after a prolonged period of writing and recording that allowed creativity to take centre stage.

Rob O’Neil has been writing and performing original songs since the age of 13 and has led several band projects over the years. Alongside music, he is also involved in independent filmmaking and screenwriting, having written and produced short films, web projects and a feature-length mockumentary. Despite being offered multiple publishing and recording deals, Rob has consistently chosen independence over restrictive contracts, determined to protect creative control and artistic integrity. That same philosophy underpins Groovy Shirt Club — a band focused on songs, performance and authenticity rather than trends.

The group brings together musicians with deep and diverse backgrounds. Members have worked with artists including Ray Davies, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Culture Club, Kid Creole and Matt Goss. Pianist Bruce O’Neil has spent over two decades as Head of Music at the Royal Shakespeare Company, while drummer Neil studied privately with jazz legend Joe Morello in New York, adding further weight to the band’s collective experience.

Groovy Shirt Club’s debut album introduced a sound that blends melody, groove and thoughtful lyricism, earning radio support and interviews across BBC regional stations, Radio Caroline, Ireland, Japan and New Zealand, alongside features in online music publications. A second album is currently being mixed with production input from Tony Swain and is scheduled for release in Spring/Summer, with a third collection of songs already in development.

What sets Groovy Shirt Club apart is their commitment to honesty in recording and performance. No samples, no loops, no shortcuts — every part is played by a musician, often in single takes. Following a successful five-year term as Prince Consort Professor, Martyn Brabbins will join the Royal College of Music as a professor of conducting. Martyn will work with conducting  students several times each term as well as leading at least one performance project each year.  

Andrew Moore, Artistic Director at The Royal College of Music, comments: ”I am delighted that Vasily Petrenko and Speranza Scappucci have agreed to join our Conducting Faculty and am equally pleased that Martyn Brabbins will deepen his involvement by taking on the role of professor of conducting. All three have led inspirational masterclasses in recent months and the experience they bring working with some of the finest orchestras and opera companies around the world has proved invaluable both to our Conducting students and to instrumentalists, singers and composers across the College.” 

Vasily Petrenko has worked with many of the world’s most prestigious orchestras and has appeared at the BBC Proms,  Edinburgh International Festival and Glyndebourne Festival  Opera, to name but a few. He is Music Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, a position begun in 2021, and became Conductor Laureate of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra following his acclaimed fifteen-year tenure as their Chief Conductor. Vasily will join the RCM on a four-year term, visiting three times a year to teach and once a year to conduct the RCM Symphony Orchestra. 

International Visiting Artist, Vasily Petrenko, said: “Working with young musicians and emerging conductors has always been a central part of my life. From youth orchestras to masterclasses, I’ve seen how access to real-world experience at the right moment can be transformative. I’m delighted to join the Royal College of Music as an International Visiting Artist and to work closely with students as they develop not only their craft, but their confidence, judgement and leadership as future conductors.”

Hailed as one of the most interesting conductors of her generation on the international scene, Speranza Scappucci made history as the first Italian woman to conduct at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Speranza was designated Principal Conductor at Covent Garden Royal Ballet and Opera House in 2025 and has conducted worldwide, as well as releasing records with Warner Classics, Opus Arte and Deutsche Grammophon. Speranza will join the RCM on a three-year term visiting twice a year to teach conducting and will conduct the RCM Symphony in at least one programme during her term.

Music icon Tom Jones today announces his return to Yorkshire this summer for two huge outdoor headline shows as part of his 2026 Come Gather Round tour.

The legendary Welsh singer will take to the stage at TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall on Saturday July 25 before heading to TK Maxx Presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday July 26. He will be joined on both nights by British soul favourites Stone Foundation.

The shows mark a welcome return to both venues for Tom. He performed two sold‑out nights at The Piece Hall in 2022 and 2024, and this will be his fifth performance at Scarborough OAT, his last being a sold-out show in 2024.
