Ingolstadt/Munich, November 12, 2025 – 115 days before its first race in Formula 1, Audi provided a preview of the company’s presence in the pinnacle of motorsport at its Brand Experience Center in Munich. Just like in future production models, Audi will bring uncompromising clarity to the racetrack and beyond.

Indoor studio shot, exterior, side view, detail

“By entering the pinnacle of motorsport, Audi is making a clear, ambitious statement,” says Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “It is the next chapter in the company’s renewal. Formula 1 will be a catalyst for the change towards a leaner, faster and more innovative Audi.” According to Döllner, Audi is entering the racing series with an ambitious yet realistic roadmap: “We are not entering Formula 1 just to be there. We want to win. At the same time, we know that you don’t become a top team in Formula 1 overnight. It takes time, perseverance and tireless questioning of the status quo. By 2030, we want to fight for the World Championship title.”

The Formula 1 team will spearhead Audi’s new brand identity
The Audi R26 Concept is a clear statement and provides a preview of the colour scheme and design of the brand’s first Formula 1 race car, which will be unveiled in January. This visual identity is based on the recently introduced design philosophy and its four design principles: clear, technical, intelligent and emotional. “We are implementing a unifying design language that draws together every aspect of our organization,” says Audi Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella. “This makes the Formula 1 project a pioneer for the new brand identity, which will be rolled out in the future both for the F1 team and Audi as a whole.”

The R26 Concept is one of the first expressions of the brand’s new visual identity. Minimalist graphic surfaces, defined by precise geometric cuts, integrate seamlessly with the racing car’s geometry. The colour palette features titanium, carbon black and the newly introduced Audi red. As part of this identity, Audi will also sport red rings, used selectively to underscore its Formula 1 presence.

F1 as a global stage to demonstrate “Vorsprung durch Technik”
The Formula 1 project is a strategic flagship for Audi, reflecting the technological, cultural and entrepreneurial reinvention of the brand. It is intended to inspire customers and employees alike. Development and racing take place within an economically attractive framework: a cost cap applicable to all teams ensures a clearly defined budget and conditions, while the global reach of Formula 1 offers strong brand exposure and sponsorship opportunities.

Formula 1 has been a globally established sports platform for decades and, with more than 820 million fans, is the world’s most popular sports series. In 2024, around 1.6 billion TV viewers watched the races. The financial valuations of Formula 1 teams are in the billions. The future Audi F1 team already has three global corporations as partners – adidas, bp and future title partner Revolut – and there is great interest in supporting Audi in Formula 1.

To enter Formula 1, Audi acquired the Sauber Group in Switzerland in its entirety at the beginning of this year, thereby creating the conditions to bring Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund on board as an investor. At the helm of the Audi F1 Project are two experienced Formula 1 managers, former Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto and Jonathan Wheatley (formerly Red Bull), who report directly to Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. In terms of drivers, the company is relying on a combination of experience and youthful energy with seasoned racing driver Nico Hülkenberg (Germany) and young talent Gabriel Bortoleto (Brazil).

“Formula 1 is more than just motorsport,” says Jürgen Rittersberger, CFO of AUDI AG. “It’s entertainment, emotion, technology – and also a challenge. But it is precisely this combination that takes us where we want to go: inspiring new customer groups for Audi. With the enormous reach of Formula 1, we have the opportunity to attract new customers for our brand – especially in the younger target group, where Formula 1 is experiencing rapid growth. Thanks to the cost cap, Formula 1 is also more financially sustainable than ever before. When we look at the development of sponsorship opportunities, team evaluations, and the overall revenue potential in Formula 1, one thing becomes clear: This path makes perfect sense for Audi – also economically.”

From motorsport heritage to Formula 1 newcomer
Motorsport is part of the Audi DNA and has always been a driving force for technological progress and innovation. From the first mid-engine Grand Prix car to quattro all-wheel drive in rallying, to diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains at Le Mans, in Formula E and at the Dakar Rally, Audi has led every motorsport project to success with determination, courage, perseverance and team spirit, always pioneering new ground. The Formula 1 involvement of Audi is intended to build on this.

The pinnacle of motorsport is considered the toughest test laboratory in the world. The short development cycles, minimal chain of command and quick decisions are intended to serve as a model for the entire company. At the same time, Audi is close to the latest technological developments and materials. Thanks to open competition, Formula 1 serves as a technology driver for both electric mobility and sustainable e-fuels – both topics that are also highly relevant for production models. In these two areas, the regulations offer great freedom and scope for innovation.

Far-reaching changes to the technical regulations of Formula 1 from 2026 onwards present an ideal opportunity for Audi, as a newcomer, to enter the pinnacle of motorsport. All competitors will have to familiarize themselves with new regulations and technologies at the same time, both in terms of the chassis and the drivetrain.

Milestones and the journey toward Formula 1
Since spring 2022, Audi has been developing the power unit for Formula 1 in Neuburg an der Donau – the only operational location of an F1 team in Germany. It consists of a V6 internal combustion engine (ICE) with a displacement of 1.6 litres and turbocharging, an energy recovery system (ERS) including energy storage (ES) and an electric motor generator unit (MGU-K), as well as an electronic control unit (CU-K). In addition to the power unit, the gearbox is also being developed in Neuburg. Together with the power unit, they form what is known as the powertrain. The new technical regulations for F1 powertrains focus on greater road-car relevance with a new hybrid concept. The output of the electric motor has been tripled and will in future be on a comparable level with the combustion engine, which will be powered by sustainable fuels from 2026. Audi has been working exclusively with the British company bp on this since 2022.

Concept development for the F1 powertrain ‘made in Germany’ began in 2022. Just two years later, the complete powertrain ran dynamically as a unit for the first time in a race simulation on the test bench. Virtual simulations and digital development tools are particularly important here, as regulations mean that it will not be possible to test the new powertrains on a racetrack until early 2026. As with product development at Audi, dynamic driving simulators, digital tools and methods play a significant role in the development process. The first power units for use on the racetrack have now been completed and will be shipped from Neuburg an der Donau to their respective locations starting in December.

The team develops and builds the race cars at the F1 Factory in Hinwil. The Swiss location is also responsible for planning and executing race operations. In addition, a technology office has been in operation in Bicester in the UK since summer 2025. The presence in the so-called ‘Motorsport Valley’ gives the team access to additional F1 expertise. There is intensive technical cooperation between the locations to fully exploit the advantages and opportunities of a factory team through the seamless integration of power unit and chassis.

First race in Formula 1
The future Audi F1 team will make its full public debut at the official team launch in January 2026. Shortly thereafter, the first official test drives with the new-generation Formula 1 cars will take place at the end of January at Barcelona, Spain – still behind closed doors. During further tests in Bahrain (11–13 February and 18–20 February), the Audi factory team will test in Formula 1 in front of the public for the first time, before the brand’s eagerly awaited debut in the pinnacle of motorsport takes place in Melbourne (Australia) from 6–8 March.

Ingolstadt, June 16, 2025 – The Audi Q3 has been a well-established bestseller in the premium compact segment for more than 10 years. Now the third generation is setting new standards in several respects. The modern SUV’s exterior exudes self-confidence and emotion. Numerous innovative features turn the Audi Q3 into a digital companion. They provide a first-class user experience and ensure greater comfort and safety for the driver and other road users thanks to many assistance systems. In addition to the well-balanced suspension, the digitalization of light also enhances customer benefits. A high degree of personalization and adaptive, high-resolution light functions are made possible with the new micro-LED technology in the digital Matrix LED headlights. Another feature of the new Audi Q3 is an efficient, partially electrified combustion engine with mild-hybrid technology and a plug-in hybrid model with an electric range of up to 74 miles*.

Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG: “With a total of more than two million vehicles sold worldwide since the launch of the first generation, the Audi Q3 is one of our best-selling models and has a high status in our product portfolio. With the third generation of the Audi Q3, we are renewing an important model family as part of our product initiative and strengthening our range with a powerful plug-in hybrid and efficient combustion engines. The new model combines efficiency, driving dynamics, and comfort.” In addition to efficient and partially electrified combustion engines, the Audi Q3 offers a new adaptive suspension that enables a balance between comfort and dynamics.

Geoffrey Bouquot, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG, adds: “With the Audi Q3 interior, we are transferring the digital stage from the full-size class to the compact segment. An innovative operating concept and numerous assistance systems increase safety and comfort and make the Audi Q3 the ideal digital companion for everyday life.”

Compared to its predecessor, the new Audi Q3 has an even more emotional design. The wide Singleframe and the sleekly tapered headlights are fully integrated into the aerodynamic concept.

Viewed from the side, a horizontal shoulder line between the headlights and rear lights visually divides the car into two parts, creating a very special distribution of light and shadow.

The rear section is adorned with digital OLED rear lights (optional on Edition 1), complemented by a continuous LED light strip and the illuminated rings (standard on S line and above). This level of lighting technology offered in the new Audi Q3 is available for the first time in the Audi compact segment.

The front of the compact SUV features digital Matrix LED headlights (standard on Edition1) that use the micro-LED module for the first time in the Audi Q3. The use of this micro-LED technology improves illumination significantly and thus ensures a strong contrast on the road. The light guidance functions are now much more closely linked to the driver assistance functions. The digital daytime running lights with LED technology, consisting of 23 segments per side, create distinctive light signatures that make the vehicle easily recognizable on the road.

In the interior, the new steering wheel control unit means more storage space in the centre console, a new user experience, and a better sense of space. The steering wheel control unit integrates two new steering column levers for the first time. The lever on the right serves as a gear selector, the one on the left as a control element for the light functions and windshield wipers. Also, for the first time in the compact segment at Audi, acoustic glazing for the front side windows comes as standard which makes for better interior acoustics, particularly at high speeds. The 488-litre boot also demonstrates the practicality of the Audi Q3. With the seat bench folded down, the storage space for the Audi Q3 increases to up to 1,386 litres. The seat bench can be moved lengthwise, and its angle can be adjusted as standard. The SUV has a towing capacity of up to 2,100kg.

The entry-level model in the Audi Q3 family is the Audi Q3 SUV TFSI 150PS, a four-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The Audi Q3 SUV TDI 150PS is particularly suitable for driving long distances. The Audi Q3 SUV e-hybrid 272PS can charge up to 50kW with DC power under ideal conditions and is more powerful and efficient than ever before. A high-voltage battery with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh (net 19.7 kWh) was installed for that purpose. This battery enables an electric range of up to 74 miles* in the WLTP test cycle.

The further developed standard suspension delivers an improved driving experience. The sports suspension (standard on Edition 1) and the suspension with two-valve damper control (available on S line and Edition 1 as part of the optional Sound & Vision Pack Pro) offer an optimally balanced driving experience. One driving assistance highlight is the driver attention and fatigue monitor. For even greater safety on the road, an interior camera also monitors the driver for signs of drowsiness and lack of concentration. Trained parking (part of Sound & Vision Pack Pro) allows customers to teach the Audi Q3 individual parking manoeuvres.

The new Audi Q3 will launch in the UK in late summer; orders can be placed for the Q3 TFSI and TDI in July, and the Q3 e-hybrid in August. The Audi Q3 SUV TFSI 150PS will be available in the UK at an entry-level price of £38,300 (OTR). The Audi Q3 SUV e-hybrid 272PS will start at £45,800 (OTR). Audi is manufacturing the new generation jointly at its plants in Gyor, Hungary, and lngolstadt, Germany.

*Final UK figures to be announced at on sale date

CFO Jürgen Rittersberger: “Our key figures for the first quarter clearly show how important it is that we push ahead with the transformation with our full strength. We’ve already set the right course for this.”

CEO Gernot Döllner: “The first few months of 2025 saw us take decisive steps towards repositioning our company. And we can see that our model initiative is paying off.”

In the first quarter of 2025, revenue amounted to 15.4 billion euros, operating profit was 537 million euros, and net cash flow was -61 million euros

AUDI AG’s financial performance in the first quarter of 2025 reflects the ongoing challenges of the overall situation. Contributing factors here include the global economic downturn, intensified competition and political uncertainties. At the same time, deliveries of electric cars from the Audi brand rose by around 30 percent compared to the same period last year. Revenue in the first three months of 2025 was 15.4 billion euros, up 12.4 percent on the figure for the same period last year. Operating profit totaled 537 million euros. Net cash flow amounted to EUR -61 million.

“Our key figures for the first quarter clearly show that we must continue to improve our efficiency and competitiveness and are therefore pushing ahead with the transformation of Audi with our full strength,” said Audi CFO Jürgen Rittersberger.” The agreement for the future has set the right course. Together, we will tackle the challenges and the necessary changes and bring Audi back to the forefront.”

Deliveries of fully electric vehicles increased by roughly 30 percent
In the first quarter of 2025, the Brand Group Progressive** delivered 388,756 (-3.3 percent) Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini brand cars as well as 11,947 (-3.5 percent) Ducati brand motorcycles.

With 46,371 electric cars delivered worldwide, the Audi brand recorded strong growth of 30.1 percent compared to the same period last year. The electric models were especially popular in France (+169 percent), Switzerland (+120 percent), the Netherlands (+87 percent), Norway (+64 percent) and in the home market of Germany (+59 percent). In total, the premium manufacturer handed over 383,401 vehicles to customers in the first quarter, which corresponds to a slight decrease of approximately 3.4 percent compared to the same quarter of last year.

With an increase of 86 percent, incoming orders for fully electric models in western Europe developed very positively. Across all drive types, incoming orders in Western Europe rose by 22 percent vis-à-vis the same quarter last year. These developments show that the model initiative launched in 2024 is gradually having an impact on volumes.

“The first few months of 2025 saw us take decisive steps towards repositioning our company,” said CEO Gernot Döllner. “This includes the agreement for the future concluded between company management and the works council in March, which aims to increase productivity, speed and flexibility at our German sites. The year will continue to be very challenging due to the global economic conditions. But Audi has started to execute its strategy and is delivering on it. Our model initiative is now, step by step, coming onto the global markets. We are particularly encouraged by sales and order intake for our new electric models.”

As part of the model initiative, the premium brand will also be launching a total of ten new plug-in hybrid models by the end of 2025. The Audi A3 and Audi A5, each available in two body styles, have already hit the market. Along with increased charging capacity, the plug-in hybrids offer long electric ranges of more than 100 kilometers (62 mi). Two additional models in the full-size class will follow in May 2025 with the launch of the Audi A6 Avant e-hybrid* and Audi A6 Sedan e-hybrid*.

Deliveries in Europe, North America and China
In Europe (excluding Germany), Audi brand deliveries declined slightly, by 3 percent, to 112,707 vehicles in the first three months of the year. Deliveries of fully electric models grew strongly with more than 25,129 units, an increase of 50.4 percent vis-à-vis the same quarter of the previous year. In its home market of Germany, Audi recorded an increase of 4.8 percent with 48,447 vehicles delivered. There were 8,640 deliveries of fully electric models, representing a plus of 59 percent. In terms of deliveries across all drive types, Audi recorded the best first quarter in its history in countries including Poland, Austria and Croatia.

In North America (excluding Mexico), the brand recorded a slight decline of 2.1 percent with 48,599 vehicles handed over to customers. This is primarily due to the model initiative, with many models currently undergoing a generational change.

Deliveries in China amounted to 144,471 vehicles, down 7.0 percent on the previous year. The main reason for this is the intense competition in the local market.Audi is therefore focusing, among other things, on rapidly expanding its portfolio of electric vehicles and strengthening its setup in China with market-specific models, production and local partners.

Five world premieres took center stage at Auto Shanghai 2025, the A6L e-tron among them. With the AUDI E5 Sportback, the first production model from the new electric brand AUDI, the company delivered on its promise of shorter product development times. Two more models will follow in the coming years.

Developed specifically for the Chinese market, the sister brand focuses on fully electric vehicles and appeals to new and particularly tech-savvy customer groups. At the same time, the premium manufacturer is continuing its model initiative in China, with new models based on the Premium Platform Electric and the Premium Platform Combustion.

Financial performance at the start of the year
Audi Group revenue was 15,431 million euros in the first quarter of 2025, up 12.4 percent on the figure for the same period last year. The increase was driven by factors such as an improved selection of models and higher sales of electric models.

Operating profit rose to 537 (Q1 2024: 466) million euros. In the period under review, the Audi Group achieved an operating margin of 3.5 (Q1 2024: 3.4) percent.

Overview of Bentley, Lamborghini and Ducati
Bentley delivered 2,388 cars from January to March 2025 (Q1 2024: 2,506). This resulted in revenue of 661 (Q1 2024: 688) million euros. The traditional British brand achieved an operating profit of 71 (Q1 2024: 120) million euros and an operating margin of 10.7 (Q1 2024: 17.4) percent.

Lamborghini delivered 2,967 vehicles in the first three months of the year (Q1 2024: 2,630), and thus 12.8 percent more than in the same period last year. Revenue grew by 29.6 percent to 895 (Q1 2024: 691) million euros. Operating profit rose by 33.0 percent to 248 (Q1 2024: 187) million euros, with a slight year-on-year increase in the operating margin to 27.7 (Q1 2024: 27.0) percent.

Recording 11,947 motorcycles delivered, Ducati remained 3.5 percent below the previous year’s figure (Q1 2024: 12,378), with revenue decreasing to 246 (Q1 2024: 262) million euros. Operating profit declined to 15.0 (Q1 2024: 27) million euros, while operating margin reached 6.3 (Q1 2024: 10.5) percent.

Financial result and profit after tax
The Audi Group’s financial result after the first quarter of 2025 was 265 (Q1 2024: 515) million euros. This includes 170 million euros from business in China (Q1 2024: 179). Profit after tax after three months totaled 630 (Q1 2024: 736) million euros.

Net cash flow
The Audi Group’s net cash flow amounted to -61 (Q1 2024: -768) million euros for the three-month period. Factors that had a negative impact here included investments in products and platforms, the acquisition of the remaining shares in Sauber Holding AG as well as the change in working capital.

Forecast for 2025
The Audi Group continues to expect revenue of between 67.5 and 72.5 billion euros for 2025 as a whole. The operating margin is forecast to remain in the range of 7 to 9 percent, with net cash flow between 3 and 4 billion euros. Against the backdrop of the present high volatility, the financial implications of import tariffs, particularly in the United States, cannot be conclusively assessed. The financial repercussions of the agreement for the future are currently being evaluated, as certain parts of the agreement are still being worked out. As a result, the forecast does not yet include these two factors.

Ingolstadt/Neckarsulm, April 15, 2025 – Audi is expanding its A6 model series with an elegant saloon that raises the bar for design, innovation, aerodynamics and comfort. The streamlined body of the new A6 Saloon achieves the lowest drag coefficient ever recorded by a series-production Audi model with a combustion engine, creating the optimal environment for a new generation of even more efficient TFSI and TDI engines. Suspension options that strike an exceptional balance between comfort and control, and a wealth of advanced new infotainment and driver assistance technologies, also contribute to a driving experience that brings the A6 emphatically back to the fore in its class. The A6 Saloon goes on sale in the UK on May 13, 2025 with Sport, S line and Edition 1 specification options priced from £50,560 (OTR), and will arrive with its first customers in start of July.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said: “The new Audi A6 Saloon unites an elegant, dynamic design with exceptional aerodynamics. Efficient yet high-performance drive systems and cutting-edge suspension technology combine sportiness with a high level of comfort, making traveling in the A6 a first-class experience.” With this model, the company is also continuing its major product initiative that began in 2024. The modernisation and rejuvenation of the product portfolio is part of the Audi Agenda, with which Audi is positioning itself for the future in the face of intensified competition. “With the A6, we are now renewing an important model series,” said Döllner.

Like the new Q5 and A5, the new A6 Saloon is also based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), and integrates the latest E³ 1.2 electronics architecture providing modern connectivity, updates and digitalisation features.

Elegant and dynamic: exterior design and aerodynamics
The elegant, reductive look of the new A6 Saloon typifies contemporary Audi design. The curve of the windows’ upper contour is a defining feature of the streamlined body, as is the striking front end with its sleek headlights, prominently positioned Audi rings and large, low-set Singleframe grille. It incorporates a sophisticated airflow concept that makes a significant contribution to the saloon’s drag coefficient (Cd value) of 0.23, which stands as the best value ever achieved by a series-production model with a combustion engine in Audi history.

At the front, side air intakes or ‘air curtains’ achieve better airflow and give the saloon a powerful appearance, while two separately controllable cool-air intakes behind the Singleframe grille also channel air as effectively as possible around the engine bay. To harness the full potential of this technology, Audi has optimised the seal between the bumper and the cooling unit, reducing airflow losses in this area by up to 70 percent. A spoiler in the front bumper also reduces front-axle lift and, together with panels on the underbody, ensures controlled airflow under the vehicle.

Like the front end, the elongated and slightly upward-sloping rear end also conveys prestige. The two rear lights with their precise graphics and the continuous light strip lend the new A6 Saloon a sense of presence, as does the vertical brake light.

The special shape of the notchback also contributes significantly to the vehicle’s outstanding aerodynamics. The sharp curvature of the tailgate and the large, wide diffuser ensure an ideal balance between lift at the rear axle and drag, which enhances driving dynamics.

Aeroacoustic performance is also exemplary in the new A6 Saloon. Suppression of noise in the vehicle has been improved by up to 30 percent compared to the previous model, thanks to detail enhancements such as more tightly sealed windows and optimised door seals. Newly developed engine and transmission mount bushings make for a smoother and quieter ride, and the shape of the transmission gear teeth has also been optimised, which benefits the acoustics of the S tronic as well. Even the tyres fitted to wheels of 19 inches in diameter or above have been acoustically fine-tuned by special noise absorbers – foam rings on the inside of the tyre that reduce air vibrations there and thus have a positive effect on noise levels.

Digital and personalised: lighting technology
Advanced lighting technology makes a significant contribution to greater road safety and is an essential part of the Audi DNA. This is evident in the design of the advanced, digitized headlights and rear lights incorporated in the new A6 Saloon, which reflect typical Audi aesthetics and give drivers the opportunity to customise the appearance of their car according to their own preferences. At the same time, the digital lighting display provides innovative functions that improve communication with other road users.

As standard in the UK, the A6 Saloon features Matrix LED headlights made up of 48 individual LED segments per headlight. They are characterised by a hexagon-perforated stainless-steel screen that conceals the digital daytime running lights and gives them an even more striking appearance.

With a total of seven digital light signatures at the front and rear – several of which are designed as active signatures in which individual segments intelligently brighten up and dim down – the new A6 Saloon offers considerable scope for personalisation.

With the coming-home and leaving-home function, individual LED segments are activated at intervals of just a few milliseconds one after the other, creating a new and futuristic-looking lighting sequence even when stationary.

Lots of choice: ten colours, progressive wheels
Drivers can choose between 10 colours for the A6, including the solid finish Arkona White. Glacier White, Mythos Black, Grenadine Red, Florett Silver, Firmament Blue, Ascari Blue, and Chronos Grey are available as metallic finishes, along with a new colour option called Midnight Green. The selection is rounded off with pearl effect Daytona Grey.

When it comes to wheels, Audi offers a wide selection of progressive designs from 18 to 21 inches for the A6 Saloon. In the UK, 18-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels are standard for Sport models, and S line versions step up to a 19-inch 5-arm design in platinum grey. Top spec Edition 1 models are equipped with a 20-inch 5-arm alloy wheel finished in Graphite grey with a gloss turned finish; a 21-inch wheel is available as an option.

Various exclusive Audi options will also enable even more customisation in the A6 Saloon. In addition to exclusive exterior colours, these include new interior and leather colours.

Business lounge: the interior design philosophy
The interior of the A6 Saloon epitomises the new Audi design philosophy, combining a ‘human- centric’ and ‘material-driven’ approach that prioritises space, comfort and the specific needs of occupants with ‘visual clarity’ achieved through clear menu structures and a logical operating concept.

The digital stage is at the heart of the design. Its focal point is the Audi MMI panoramic display – a thin, free-standing display with a curved shape using OLED technology. It consists of the Audi virtual cockpit with an 11.9-inch screen and the 14.5-inch MMI touch screen.

In Edition 1 models, these are complemented by a 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display, which is also perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. It enables the front passenger to access websites and stream video content and also helps when navigating or searching for fuel stations. Thanks to the dynamic privacy mode, distracting content such as videos cannot be viewed from the driver’s seat while driving. If the passenger display is not in use or if no passengers are detected, a digital background image is shown.

As part of the optional Sound & Vision pack, the new Audi A6 Saloon can be optionally equipped with a new, configurable head-up display (HUD). A wide range of information can be displayed on the HUD, including speed, active assistance systems, navigation instructions, and media information. For the first time, drivers have the option of controlling vehicle and infotainment functions via the head-up display. Thanks to its space-efficient installation and adapted display technology, the visible image area is more than 85 percent larger than before, and the display is significantly more precise.

As a contrast to the digital and technical areas, the new interior of the Audi A6 Saloon features a Softwrap that extends from door to door across the entire width of the instrument panel. It has the effect of making the interior appear wider, and also of further refining its inherently comfortable, premium ambiance in combination with selected high-grade cloths, leather-effect materials and technical fabrics such as Cascade textile and Dinamica microfibre, which are partially made from recycled materials such as polyester.

The distinct interior of the A6 Saloon also makes an impression in the dark. The contoured lighting along the dashboard and in the doors accentuates the width of the interior, while the indirect light below the Audi MMI panoramic display and in the centre console creates a floating effect. The high-quality materials in the doors are also attractively illuminated.

As part of the redesigned interior concept, a dynamic interaction light facilitates communication between the vehicle and its occupants. Consisting of 84 LEDs, it is located below the windscreen and is illuminated in a large arc extending from the left to the right A-pillar. In addition to a welcome function, the interaction light also features a special lighting sequence that is activated when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. It also supports safety by displaying an additional dynamic turn signal.

A spacious interior
With an overall length of 4,990mm, the Audi A6 Saloon is 60mm longer than its predecessor. Its wheelbase of 2,927mm makes for a more comfortable ride on long journeys and contributes to the ample interior space. The A6 Saloon is just under 1,880mm wide without mirrors.

The new switchable panoramic glass roof which is optionally available across the range further enhances the spacious feel. It spans almost the entire cockpit and rear and allows the interior to either be flooded with light or effectively shaded. Six segments form the basis for various patterns with areas that can be switched on and off to provide full glare protection. The “digital curtain” is operated via a button in the roof module.

The luggage compartment of the new A6 Saloon has a capacity of up to 492 litres, depending on version. Thanks to its width of 1,050mm, two large suitcases can easily fit in side by side. The standard 40: 20: 40 folding rear seats enable variable loading for items such as ski equipment. The storage and luggage compartment package also comes as standard – the tailgate can be opened and closed with a foot motion, with a projection light indicating where to “kick.”.

Exceptional features: exceptional experience
Many comfort-enhancing features make travelling in the A6 Saloon a memorable experience. The sophisticated aeroacoustics also enrich audio enjoyment, especially with the premium 3D sound system from Bang & Olufsen, which comes as part of the optional Sound & Vision pack. Two versions are available – one with 16 speakers and a 685-watt total output which forms part of the pack option for Sport and Edition 1 variants, and a top-of-the-line 20-speaker version with 810 watts which is included in the pack for S line and Edition 1 models. This version is equipped with two additional speakers in each of the front headrests, which take the audio experience to a new level. They not only create a personal surround sound environment but also enable navigation prompts and phone calls to be directed specifically to the driver.

Fuel-efficient and high-performance: MHEV plus technology
At launch in the UK, the new A6 Saloon will be available with two engines – one TFSI petrol and one TDI diesel. The diesel unit features mild hybrid technology (MHEV plus) and is therefore partially electrified. The MHEV plus system supports the combustion engine, enhancing performance and refinement and reducing CO2 emissions. It consists of three main components: a 48-volt battery, a belt alternator starter, and the new powertrain generator with integrated power electronics.

The lithium-ion battery, made of lithium iron phosphate, has a storage capacity of 1.7 kWh. The belt alternator starter’s primary function is to start the engine and supply the battery with electrical energy. The powertrain generator enables partially electric driving, provides additional torque, and feeds energy back into the battery during deceleration.

Partially electric driving: MHEV plus technology leverages the advantages of electric driving when parking and manoeuvring. The electric driving components can also be used when driving slowly in the city, in slow-moving traffic, or outside city limits when coasting. In these situations, the A6 Saloon runs solely on the powertrain generator, making it particularly efficient.

A boost of up to 18 kW: MHEV plus technology supports the combustion engine, for example when starting up in stop-and-go traffic or when overtaking. To do this, the powertrain generator produces additional torque of up to 230Nm and up to 24PS of power.

Regeneration of up to 25 kW: When decelerating, the powertrain generator recovers energy and feeds it – up to 25 kW of power – back into the battery (regeneration). The integrated, blending-capable brake control system ensures pressure-free braking and the best possible regeneration, in most cases without the use of the friction brake.

The 48-volt system also enables the use of an electrically driven air-conditioning compressor. The major advantage here is that even when the engine is switched off – for example when coasting or at a red light – the air-conditioning continues to operate at full power, keeping the interior at a comfortable temperature.

2.0 TFSI 4-cylinder 204PS: The entry-level variant, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, has a start-stop system as standard to reduce fuel consumption and is available exclusively with front-wheel drive. It delivers 204PS and generates a maximum torque of 340Nm. Numerous modifications have taken the efficiency of the newly designed engine to the next level. The 2.0 TFSI uses a modified Miller combustion process that is especially advantageous in partial-load operation.

In the Miller cycle, the intake valves close early, which increases the engine’s efficiency. The 2.0 TFSI also has a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG). This improves the responsiveness and efficiency of the direct injection engine. The VTG enables smoother and more agile torque build-up at low engine speeds. The 2.0 TFSI is always coupled to the seven-speed S tronic, a fast and smooth-shifting dual-clutch transmission.

2.0 TDI 4-cylinder 204PS: The 2.0 TDI delivers 204PS and a maximum torque of 400Nm. To increase efficiency and comfort, the engine is partially electrified with MHEV plus technology and equipped with a 48-volt electrical system. Partially electric driving and high energy recovery reduce carbon emissions. The 48-volt belt alternator starter also increases the comfort of the TDI by starting the engine quietly. The vehicle responds more quickly when setting off and is noticeably more agile. The 2.0 TDI is fitted with a dual-clutch transmission and quattro ultra all-wheel drive.

The perfect blend of agility and comfort: the suspension
A particular highlight of the new A6 Saloon is its extremely comfortable ride, which comes into its own on longer journeys. The front and rear axles use a five-link design, largely made of aluminium. Two subframes – the front being rigidly mounted and the rear hydraulically mounted – connect the control arms to the body.

Three suspension setups are available for UK models:

Standard suspension, designed to be even more comfortable than its predecessor. This is standard on Sport specification.

Sport suspension, which lowers the body by 20mm for distinctly sporty handling, is included with S line and Edition 1 specifications.

Adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled damping, which can prioritise ride comfort or handling agility, is an optional extra on quattro specified models.

The optional adaptive air suspension with adjustable damping on all four wheels regulates the body height and shock absorption. The adaptive air suspension automatically balances out the vehicle load, ensuring the car stays level. Compared to the standard suspension, the A6 Saloon rides 20mm lower in normal mode (balanced, comfort, and efficiency mode), effectively matching the configuration of the sports suspension. In dynamic mode, the ride height is lowered by a further 10mm for a more dynamic driving feel.

To reduce drag, the body drops to the lower level at speeds above 75mph even in balanced and efficiency modes. In contrast, the lift function raises the A6 Saloon by 20mm above the normal level and can now be used up to a speed of 53mph. This function ensures safety and forward momentum even in challenging driving conditions, such as on snowy or uneven roads.

The Audi drive select dynamic handling system can be used to fine-tune the vehicle’s steering and drivetrain settings. The distinctions between the driving modes have been noticeably increased: handling in dynamic mode is tighter and sportier, while comfort mode is designed for smooth, comfortable driving on long journeys. And thanks to the Audi assistant, the adaptive air suspension can now be operated by voice control for the first time in the A6, with simple commands like “raise the vehicle” or “lower the air suspension.”

Progressive and efficient: quattro all-wheel drive
In the UK, the all-wheel-drive system quattro ultra is standard with the 2.0 TDI 204PS engine variant. It flexibly distributes torque to maximise efficiency while also providing all the benefits of quattro for even greater driving safety and dynamics. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch distributes torque between the front and rear axles over a wide range, as required by the specific driving situation. For optimal fuel efficiency, the rear axle of the quattro ultra is automatically decoupled under partial load if the driving situation permits this. When taking corners dynamically, accelerating sharply, or when the friction coefficient of the road surface requires it, the quattro system’s electronically controlled multi-plate clutch connects the front and rear axles and distributes the tractive force flexibly to where it is needed. Under hard acceleration out of a corner, power is distributed more towards the rear. In this driving situation, the power distribution between the front and rear axles is around 30:70.

Perfectly in tune: highly connected control system with brake torque vectoring
Compared to its predecessor, Audi has improved the interplay between the suspension control and drive systems in the new A6 Saloon. The integrated brake control system, the controlled dampers, and the engine management system work together even faster and more precisely. The results can be felt not only in the way the car handles corners, but also in the quality of its ride.

Thanks to brake torque vectoring – wheel-selective momentum control – the new A6 Saloon has an even sharper cornering attitude. Brake torque vectoring constantly monitors the current driving situation and counteracts any understeer; when the wheels on the inside of the bend lose traction, they are gently braked. Due to this targeted braking intervention and the resulting difference in propulsive forces, the Audi A6 steers more directly and reacts more immediately to the given situation. Its handling is consequently more precise, safer, and more agile.

Improved handling: progressive steering
The reworked and now more direct steering contributes significantly to the controlled yet dynamic handling of the new A6 Saloon. Compared to its predecessor, the entire path from the steering wheel to the wheels is designed to be stiffer. This includes the torsion bar at the steering gear, the rigidly bolted steering rack, and the stiffer control arm bushings. Camber on the front axle has also been slightly increased.

All in all, these measures result in a noticeably improved steering response and more feedback from the road, which makes for more precise and nimble vehicle handling.

The A6 Saloon features electromechanical progressive steering as standard. The steering ratio varies depending on the steering angle: at small steering angles, when on the motorway for example, the steering is more indirect to prevent any nervous behaviour from influencing the steering. At larger steering angles, the ratio becomes increasingly direct, reducing the amount of physical effort required to steer in city traffic and when parking. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system can be used to vary the steering characteristics – specifically steering weight – in several modes.

A first for the A6: integrated brake control system
The A6 uses an integrated, blending-capable brake control system (iBRS). With this brake-by-wire technology, the brake pedal and brake hydraulics are completely decoupled. In the 2.0 TDI with MHEV plus technology, the system calculates whether the desired braking effect can be achieved by regenerative braking using the electric motor – that is, the powertrain generator – or whether the friction brakes on the front and rear axles must also be activated.

In a fraction of a second, the control unit calculates how much braking force needs to be produced by the friction brakes. A piston in the brake hydraulics then applies the necessary pressure. Brake feel remains the same as the pedal is depressed, and the transition between regenerative and friction braking is imperceptibly smooth, with braking forces remaining constant. Thanks to the electrohydraulic actuation, the system very precisely builds up the brake pressure for the wheel brakes and about twice as fast as a conventional brake system. When automatic emergency braking is activated, the maximum brake pressure is reached in just 150 milliseconds.

Connected: infotainment with ChatGPT
The new A6 Saloon uses Android Automotive OS as its operating system for the infotainment system. The vehicle updates all content via over-the-air updates. This is how Audi ensures that all connect services always remain current.

Numerous third-party apps including Spotify, YouTube, and news services can be downloaded from the Audi application store, which, like the smartphone interface, is standard. These are integrated directly into the MMI – a smartphone is not required for either downloading or using the interface. The Audi smartphone interface transfers the content from the smartphone directly to the vehicle’s infotainment system. This makes it possible to conveniently control the navigation, telephone, music, and selected third-party apps via the MMI touch display and voice control system. Smartphones can be charged using the standard telephone tray with inductive charging.

With the improved and more intuitive touchscreen operation, customers can reap the benefits of the newly designed operating and display concept as fully as possible. Alternatively, numerous vehicle functions can be operated with the upgraded voice control. The voice-controlled Audi assistant provides support and learns in the process. To answer queries as thoroughly as possible, the Audi assistant accesses additional content from the internet, including weather data and general information.

By connecting to ChatGPT (provided by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service) customers can access AI-based knowledge using everyday speech prompts. The responses generated are tailored to each question and read out individually. The Audi assistant automatically determines whether it should perform a specific vehicle function or answer a query on a different topic. If the Audi assistant is unable to answer a question, it seamlessly accesses ChatGPT without any noticeable interruption for the occupants.

More ease and safety: the driver assistance systems
The new Audi A6 Saloon is equipped with numerous modern driver assistance systems as standard. These systems increase convenience and safety on every journey by making the driver’s job easier and taking over important tasks. The “Drive and Park” assistance package is a standard feature. It includes adaptive cruise control, a speed limiter that responds to traffic signs, traffic sign recognition, a rear-view camera, and park assist plus. Other standard features include park assist plus with distance display, lane departure warning, cross-traffic assist, swerve assist, front turn assist, and the emergency brake assistant.

Ingolstadt, March 25, 2025 – Built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the new Audi A5 is welcoming additional members to its family. Alongside the pure combustion engine models, Audi is now offering a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) for the first time in the A5 series. Customers will benefit from greater comfort and technical innovations for their daily mobility. The new generation of high-voltage batteries boasts around 45 percent higher capacity. The increased regenerative braking performance contributes to an electric range of up to 67 miles on UK spec models.

With the new A5 family, Audi has embarked on the next chapter in its successful history of mid-size cars with a more striking design language, state-of-the-art combustion engine technology, and a new operating concept. The new plug-in hybrid for the A5 series offers customers even more flexibility and efficiency. To make the new PHEV even more recognisable, Audi is introducing the technology designation “e-hybrid” with immediate effect.

“As part of our model initiative, we are significantly expanding our range of plug-in hybrids in 2025,” says Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “Our new generation of plug-in hybrid models offers a sporty and comfortable driving experience as well as a harmonious balance between performance and efficiency.”

Geoffrey Bouquot, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG, adds: “The increased electric range of our new plug-in hybrids enables our customers to cover the majority of their daily journeys using only electric power. Our hybrid technology combines the best of both worlds and provides a high degree of flexibility for everyday life. And with the new technology designation ‘e-hybrid,’ this is now also recognisable at first glance.”

The Audi A5 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the Audi A5 Saloon e-hybrid quattro are powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine with an output of 252PS (185kW) and an electric motor that delivers up to 142PS (105kW). Combined total power output is 299PS (220kW).

At the heart of the new A5 plug-in hybrid is the new high-voltage battery at the rear of the vehicle. Audi has boosted its capacity to 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh), a gain of roughly 45 percent. Maximum AC charging power has been increased to 11 kW. This increase in power reduces the charging time from 0 to 100 percent to just 2.5 hours.

The A5 e-hybrids (fuel consumption (weighted, combined):108.6 – 141.1mpg); power consumption (weighted, combined): 4.0 – 4.1 mi/kWh; CO2 emissions (weighted, combined): 46 – 60 g/km; CO2 class (weighted, combined): B; fuel consumption on discharged battery (combined): 40.5 – 43.5mpg; CO2 class on discharged battery: F-E) can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 155mph. Fuel consumption is certified

Audi has also significantly increased the regenerative braking performance, and drivers can now adjust the degree of thrust recuperation in EV mode using paddles on the steering wheel. The new A5 e-hybrid runs on electric power for as long as possible to fully utilise the available battery charge to the driver’s destination. When this function is activated, the vehicle recovers energy automatically. This is based on route data stored in the navigation system. The new A5 e-hybrid quattro can also recover energy automatically without active route guidance.

The hybrid management of the new models is designed for efficiency, flexibility, and maximum customer comfort and automatically selects the optimal operating strategy. Two operating modes are available: “EV” and “hybrid.” In EV mode, the PHEV models run exclusively on electric power. When driving in hybrid mode, the hybrid management system maintains a specific charge level as needed to save enough electrical energy for later use, for example for electric driving in the city. In addition to the automatic hybrid mode, the desired charge level can now be individually selected for the first time using a digital slider.

Intelligent drive management for greater efficiency
The hybrid management of the new models is designed for efficiency, flexibility, and maximum customer comfort and automatically selects the optimal operating strategy. The electric drive is provided by a permanently excited synchronous motor with a peak output of 142PS (105 kW). The electric motor is integrated into the housing of the seven-speed S tronic. The full system torque, 450Nm, is available even at idle speed. The power electronics (pulse inverter) used in the plug-in hybrid models of the A5 are a new development. The pulse inverter is smaller, lighter, and more efficient, thus reducing electrical consumption. Consumption in hybrid mode is therefore also lower.

Battery capacity and energy density significantly increased
The heart of the new A5 plug-in hybrid is the new high-voltage battery (HV battery) at the rear of the vehicle. At 25.9 kWh (20.7 kWh net), Audi has increased its capacity by roughly 45 percent as compared to the outgoing A6 TFSI e. In contrast, the required installation space has only increased slightly in view of the significantly increased capacity. The HV battery measures 992 × 996 × 177 mm. The further developed and significantly optimised interaction between the mechanical friction brake and energy recovery via the electric motor has also increased regenerative braking performance.

The battery cells for the A5 e-hybrid are arranged in a single layer due to the available space in the rear section of the car. Each prismatic cell stores approximately 46 percent more energy than the cells previously used in low-floor vehicles in this segment. The cells each have a charge capacity of 70 ampere-hours (Ah). The raw material composition of the cells allows for higher energy density. The battery’s energy is bundled into 17 cells, known as stacks. Six of these stacks form a unit and are connected in sequence.

As far as the arrangement of the battery cells is concerned, Audi is pursuing a new approach with cell-to-pack. In this process, the cells are no longer placed in a battery module but are glued directly into the battery housing. The resulting higher packing density means that the energy content and energy density of the HV system can be increased while taking up less space. Thanks to further technical developments in cell chemistry, higher electrical output is available compared to the previous generation, even at a low state of charge and low outside temperatures.

The maximum possible AC charging power has been increased from two-phase 7.4 kW to three-phase 11 kW, depending on the respective infrastructure. With this increased power, the HV battery’s 0 to 100-percent charging time is lowered to just 2.5 hours. A charging cable (mode 3, plug type 2) for convenient charging at home and on the road is included as standard. Audi’s own charging service, Audi charging, provides access to numerous AC charging points in 29 European countries on request.

More energy recovery in overrun and braking mode
Compared to the PHEV predecessor generation of the A6, Audi has significantly increased regenerative braking performance in the new A5 e-hybrid. The PHEV model fundamentally tries to drive on electric power for as long as possible and to fully utilise the available battery charge en route to the destination. The efficiency of the plug-in hybrid drive depends on the phases in which the driver takes their foot off the accelerator. In such situations, overrun recuperation is controlled via a defined deceleration depending on the selected drive level. In addition, automatic recuperation can be preset in the MMI in drive levels D and M. The vehicle varies the recuperation autonomously. The parameters for this are route data stored in the navigation system, such as gradients, curve radii, place-name signs, and speed limits. Another important factor is the traffic ahead. As soon as automatic regenerative braking is selected, predictive signals are fed into the overrun regenerative braking function with the help of Predictive Efficiency Assistant (PEA). The new A5 e-hybrid can also perform automatic regenerative braking without active route guidance.

When the brake pedal is depressed during deceleration, the A5 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the A5 Saloon e-hybrid quattro can recover up to 88 kW of power and feed it into the HV battery. When operated as a generator, the electric motor accounts for more than 90 percent of all deceleration processes. The integrated brake control system with blending capability (iBRS) ensures pressure-free braking and the best possible energy recovery. The hydraulic wheel brakes are only used for harder braking manoeuvres. This has no effect on the braking feel for the driver, as the brake pedal and brake hydraulics are decoupled.

Recuperation level adjustable via steering wheel paddles
Thanks to the new E3 electronics architecture used in the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the degree of thrust recuperation in electric driving mode (EV mode) can be adjusted to three different levels using paddles on the steering wheel, just like in the all-electric models. The left paddle (minus) is used to select electric braking and corresponding recuperation level. The right paddle (plus) can be used to reduce the recuperation level. The paddles can thereby be used to set a higher level of deceleration before a turn, for example. At level zero, the plug-in hybrid coasts freely without additional drag torque when the foot is taken off the accelerator pedal. This means that energy is only recovered when the brake is applied.

Intelligent operating strategy for maximum efficiency
Two operating modes are available in the new A5 PHEV models: “EV” and “hybrid.” In EV mode, the PHEV models run on electric power. The combustion engine is only turned on in the following situations: deliberately deselecting EV in the switch bar below the panoramic display or via the MMI; in driving program S; via the selected mode of the Audi drive select dynamic handling system; or when starting route guidance with hybrid assist activated. If navigation route guidance is activated, the hybrid assistant takes the route data into account when selecting the drive mode. The combustion engine also engages during kickdown, and EV mode is deactivated until the kickdown action is over. If none of these situations occur, the new PHEV models use the HV battery in EV mode until it is completely discharged. The digital slider used to control the desired state of charge via the MMI in hybrid mode cannot be operated in EV mode; that is because the battery charge will be fully utilised in electric mode. In EV mode, vehicle speed is limited to 87mph. The PHEV models can be started either in EV or hybrid mode, and the mode used last will be set as the default for when the vehicle is started next.

When driving in hybrid mode, the hybrid management system maintains the battery’s state of charge at the necessary level to save enough electrical energy for later use, for example for electric driving in the city.

When it comes to efficiency-optimised consumption, hybrid mode is most efficient for both short and long distances. Depending on the driving situation and the driver’s power needs, the operating strategy decides whether to drive in electric or hybrid mode in order to be as efficient as possible. The PHEV model prefers to drive on electric power in urban areas. At higher speeds, the proportion of hybrid driving increases. With active route guidance, the operating strategy takes the planned route into consideration; the best possible energy configuration for the desired route is automatically selected. To achieve the highest efficiency, the vehicle calculates which parts of the route are suitable for electric driving. For example, electric driving is preferable where speeds are likely to be low, such as in urban areas and traffic jams. When the hybrid assistant is activated and route guidance is on, settings such as the desired charge level will be overwritten to ensure an efficient operating strategy.

On top of the automatic hybrid mode, the desired charge level can now be individually set for the first time using a digital slider. Drivers can use it to precisely define how high the charge level of the HV battery should be. The charge level can also be set before your trip, so that there will be enough energy available for electric driving at the destination if so desired or if there is no charging option there.
The desired charge level can be set in defined steps using a digital slider on a percentage scale. If the target state of charge (SoC) value is below the actual SoC value, the battery will be discharged down to that value. If the target and actual values match, power will mainly come from the combustion engine to maintain the SoC. If the target SoC is above the actual SoC, the vehicle will be powered by the combustion engine to recharge the battery.

The battery is charged with a view to maximising efficiency and minimising environmental impact. This means that the combustion engine only charges the battery at speeds above 40mph; at low speeds, the charge level is simply maintained. This maximises efficiency and enables partially electric driving in the city or in stop-and-go traffic. The battery can be charged in this way up to 75 percent. This ensures that the battery is charged with maximum efficiency while driving. To increase the battery’s charge above 75 percent, an external AC charging source is required.

Extensive standard equipment
Like the entire A5 family, the PHEV models come with a high level of standard equipment. This includes progressive steering, navigation, the MMI panoramic display, and an inductive phone charging pad.

Beyond that, the PHEV models come standard with three-zone automatic air conditioning, auxiliary air conditioning, and 18-inch wheels. The Avant has a boot volume of 361 litres. Folding down the rear seats – in the standard 40:20:40 ratio – increases the volume to 1,306 litres. The boot capacity in the Saloon is 331 increasing to 1,175 litres with the rear bench dropped. The A5 is permitted to tow braked trailers up to 1,900kg and unbraked trailers up to 750kg. The maximum permissible roof load is 90kg and maximum nose weight is 80kg.

The standard air conditioning system with electric refrigerant compressor not only works while driving in EV and hybrid mode but also runs electrically before setting off. If so desired, the auxiliary air conditioning will ensure a comfortable interior temperature even before you get in the car. It can be programmed directly in the vehicle or via the myAudi app.

The optional comfort auxiliary air conditioning can be used to activate additional optional features such as seat heating. When unlocking the vehicle with the remote-control key, a “quick climate control” function can also be started. This means that the interior can be quickly cooled down even without the app. The standard three-zone automatic air conditioning automatically regulates the air temperature, volume, and distribution separately for the driver, front passenger, and rear row. The comfort auxiliary air conditioning can be set or activated in the MMI or conveniently via the myAudi app.

The smartphone interface connects the smartphone to the vehicle and displays smartphone content directly on the MMI touch display. The front sports seats<ins cite="mailto:Robson,%20Jen%20(VWG-UKAPS/7)" datetime="2025-03-24T12:35"> </ins>provide even more comfort and better lateral support when cornering with their four-way electric lumbar support, manual adjustment of thigh support, integrated head restraints, and pronounced seat side bolsters.

Ingolstadt/Neckarsulm, March 4, 2025 – The new Audi A6 Avant sets design standards and stands for quality and comfort in the premium full-size class like no other vehicle. It impresses with a cleverly designed body concept and lots of variability, offering plenty of space for everyday life as well as for demanding recreational activities. The Audi A6 Avant models are based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), powered by modern petrol and diesel engines that are more efficient and dynamic thanks to the mild-hybrid technology MHEV plus. Additional highlights include intuitive operating and infotainment concepts, new digital lighting technology, and intelligent driver assistance systems. The A6 Avant goes on sale in the UK on April 1 priced from £52,510 (OTR). First customer deliveries are due mid-June.

Since 1977, the name Avant has stood for vehicles that combine sporty and elegant design, superior functionality, and outstanding driving dynamics. 48 years after the debut of the Audi 100 Avant, the A6 Avant is ushering in a new era.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner: “We are writing the next chapter in our Avant history: The new Audi A6 unites an elegant and dynamic design with exceptional aerodynamics. Efficient yet high-performance drive systems and cutting-edge suspension technology combine sportiness with a high level of comfort, making traveling in the A6 a first-class experience.” With this model, the company is also continuing its major product initiative that began in 2024. The modernization and rejuvenation of the product portfolio is part of the Audi Agenda, with which Audi is positioning itself for the future in the face of intensified competition. “With the A6, we are now renewing an important model series,” said Döllner.

Like the new Q5 and A5, the new A6 Avant is also based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). The E³ 1.2 electronics architecture ensures modern connectivity, updates, and digitalization features in all new models.

Elegant and dynamic: the exterior design
With its long wheelbase, large wheels, and sculpted body, the new Audi A6 Avant is perfectly proportioned. The interplay of clear surfaces and dynamic lines gives it an expression of elegance and sportiness. The combination of a wide track and strong shoulders with an extended hood contributes to this as well. The model’s reduced design vocabulary conveys a functional and timeless character.

The front is characterized by the low-positioned Singleframe, which extends to the lower edge of the front apron. Together with the sleek headlights and raised Audi rings, it gives the A6 Avant a striking, focused, and distinguished expression. Three-dimensionally modelled air curtains positioned under the headlights give the bumper a powerful and sporty look.

Three sweeping lines give the side view a dynamic character, with two of them forming the pronounced muscular sections that represent the quattro all-wheel drive. The blisters powerfully emerging from the shoulder surface at the front and rear wheels are reminiscent of the Audi Ur-quattro and a core element of Audi’s design DNA. “Making technology visible” is a central design principle of the brand. A third line runs across the sill, visually connecting the front with the rear and giving the A6 a sense of motion even when stationary. The powerfully taut roofline flows into a striking roof spoiler that spans the sporty, gently sloping rear window. The D-pillars, which are also steeply inclined and sit firmly on the rear blisters, underscore the sportiness of the A6 Avant when viewed from the side.

Like the front end, the sculpted rear end with its prominently positioned Audi rings also exudes prestige. The two sleek rear lights with their precise graphics and the continuous light strip emphasize the vehicle’s width. They lend the new Audi A6 a sense of presence, as does the vertical brake light flanking the rear. The large diffuser with its eye-catching trim piece rounds off the rear, integrating the tailpipes with their strikingly designed rectangular covers.

Digital and personalized: lighting technology
Advanced lighting technology makes a significant contribution to greater road safety and is an essential part of Audi DNA. The new A6 Avant also plays a pioneering role in its class in this area. The design of the headlights and rear lights is all about digitalization, which gives drivers the opportunity to customize the appearance of their A6 Avant according to their own preferences. At the same time, the digital lighting display provides innovative functions that improve communication with other road users. All the while, the lighting technology reflects typical Audi aesthetics.

As standard in the UK, the A6 Avant features digital LED daytime running lights made up of 48 individual LED segments per headlight. The Matrix LED headlights are characterized by a hexagon-perforated stainless-steel screen that conceals the digital daytime running lights. This new design gives the headlights an even more striking appearance.

With a total of seven digital light signatures at the front and rear – several of which are designed as active signatures in which individual segments intelligently brighten up and dim down – the new A6 Avant offers considerable potential for personalization.

The aesthetics of motion are quintessentially Audi – and they impress the driver with every dynamic lighting effect when unlocking or exiting the vehicle. With the coming-home and leaving-home function, individual LED – segments are activated at intervals of just a few milliseconds one after the other, creating a new and futuristic-looking lighting sequence even when stationary.

Lots of choice: 10 colours, progressive wheels
The A6 Avant in S line specification deliberately shows a lot of body colour and aluminium to highlight its elegance and sportiness. The Singleframe grille has a larger structure, and vertical frames accentuate the side air curtains to optimize airflow. Each of these elements underscores the dynamic character of the A6 Avant.

When it comes to wheels, Audi offers a wide selection of progressive designs from 18 to 21 inches for the A6 Avant. In the UK, the entry Sport specification comes with 18-inch wheels as standard and S line specification jumps up to a 19-inch 5-arm, platinum grey wheel. Top spec Edition 1 models get a 20-inch 5-arm alloy wheel finished in Graphite grey with a gloss turned finish; a 21-inch alloy is available as an option.

Furthermore, there will be various exclusive Audi options that enable even more customization in the A6 Avant. In addition to exclusive exterior colours, these also include new interior and leather colours.

Aerodynamics: the best drag coefficient of an Audi Avant with a combustion engine
The sporty design of the new Audi A6 Avant contributes to its outstanding aerodynamics, ensuring a drag coefficient (Cd value) of 0.25. This is the best value for an Avant with a combustion engine in the history of Audi. Air curtains are used to ensure that the airflow around the front wheels and sides of the vehicle is as smooth as possible. These have been seamlessly integrated into the new design of the A6 Avant. Two separately controllable cool-air intakes behind the Singleframe radiator grille are part of the aerodynamics concept. These ensure optimized airflow around the engine bay. To harness the full potential of this technology, Audi has also optimized the seal between the bumper and the cooling unit, reducing airflow losses in this area by up to 70 percent.

To achieve this, the air control elements were made significantly more rigid. The unified interface for the air intake and for engine cooling also contributes to improved airflow around the body. At the rear, aerodynamic panels ensure a defined flow stall, assisted by the roof edge spoiler. The wide and aerodynamically optimized diffuser also makes an important contribution to the excellent drag coefficient. This enables the ideal balance between lift at the rear axle and air resistance.

Rounding off the sophisticated aerodynamic concept are optional aerodynamically optimized 18- inch wheels made of diamond-cut aluminium. The visible design of the rim is glossy, while the closed sections, designed to optimize aerodynamics, are black and blend inconspicuously into the shadows.

The aerodynamics and overall vehicle acoustics of the new A6 Avant are also first-class. For example, sound insulation in the vehicle has been improved by up to 30 percent compared to the previous model – with the weight of the materials remaining almost the same. More tightly sealed windows and optimized door seals ensure more pleasant acoustics in the interior, thereby enhancing onboard well-being. Newly developed engine and transmission mount bushings make for a smoother and quieter ride. The shape of the transmission gear teeth has also been optimized, which benefits the acoustics of the S tronic as well. Furthermore, all tyres on wheels 19 inches or larger have noise absorbers. These are foam rings on the inside of the tyre that reduce air vibrations there and thus have a positive effect on the noise level in the vehicle.

A spacious interior
With an overall length of 4,990mm metres, the Audi A6 Avant is 60mm longer than the previous model. The wheelbase of 2,927mm makes for a more comfortable ride on long journeys and contributes to the ample interior space. The A6 Avant measures just under 1,880mm wide without mirrors.

The new switchable panoramic glass roof, optionally available, further enhances the sense of spaciousness. It spans almost the entire cockpit and rear and allows the interior to either be flooded with light or effectively shaded. Nine segments form the basis for various patterns with areas that can be switched on and off to provide full glare protection. The “digital curtain” is operated via a button in the roof module.

The luggage compartment of the new A6 Avant has a capacity of up to 503 litres. Thanks to its width of 1,050mm, two large suitcases can easily fit in side by side. The standard 40:20:40 folding rear seats enable variable loading for items such as ski equipment. When the rear seat backrests are folded down completely, the luggage capacity increases up to 1,534 litres. A rail system, the storage and luggage compartment package, and a partition net are also part of the standard equipment of the A6 Avant and further increase its versatility. The electric tailgate is included as a standard feature. It opens and closes with a foot motion, with a projection light indicating where to “kick.”

Business lounge: the interior design philosophy
The interior of the A6 Avant reflects the four characteristic features of the new Audi design philosophy. Firstly, the interior is designed to be “human centric,” meaning that it is systematically aligned with the needs of its users. The second special feature is the “digital stage,” which is laid out in front of the occupants in the form of the Audi MMI display.

With its “material-driven design,” the new Audi A6 fulfils the aspiration for a generous sense of space with a high level of comfort. The clear structure and logical operating concept ensure an overview in all situations and represent the fourth feature, “visual clarity”.

The digital stage revolves around the Audi MMI panoramic display and the optional MMI passenger display. The thin free-standing Audi MMI panoramic display has a curved design and OLED technology. It consists of the Audi virtual cockpit with an 11.9-inch display diagonal and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display. Audi complements the digital stage for the front passengers with the 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display (Edition 1 spec only), which is also perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. It enables the front passenger to look up websites and stream video content and also helps when navigating or searching for the nearest fuel station. Thanks to the dynamic privacy mode, distracting content such as videos cannot be viewed from the driver’s seat while driving. If the passenger display is not in use or if no passengers are detected, a digital background image is shown.

As part of the optional Sound & Vision pack, the new Audi A6 Avant can be optionally equipped with a new, configurable head-up display (HUD). A wide range of information can be displayed on the HUD, including speed, active assistance systems, navigation instructions, and media information. For the first time, drivers have the option of controlling vehicle and infotainment functions via the head-up display. Thanks to the maximized use of the installation space and the adapted display technology, the visible image area is more than 85 percent larger than before, and the display is significantly more precise.

As a contrast to the digital and technical areas, the new interior of the Audi A6 Avant features a so-called Softwrap application. It extends from door to door across the entire width of the instrument panel, making the interior appear wider. Selected cloths, faux leather, or Dinamica in the door panels and armrests create a comfortable, refined ambiance.

The colours and high-quality materials of the interior are found not only in the Softwrap but also in the seats. The seats, Softwrap, door panels, and armrests are optionally available in sustainable materials such as the fabric Cascade and the microfiber material Dinamica, which are largely made of recycled polyester. The textile cover Cascade is reminiscent of natural materials such as wool and is not additionally dyed. It is partially made from recycled materials such as selvedge and recycled polyester. Dinamica looks and feels like suede, but about half of it is recycled polyester.

The distinct interior of the A6 Avant also makes an impression in the dark. The contoured lighting along the dashboard and in the doors accentuates the width of the interior, while the indirect light below the Audi MMI panorama display and in the centre console creates a visual effect of floating. The high-quality materials in the doors are also stylishly illuminated. And on vehicles with this feature, the Bang & Olufsen logo is even lit up.

As part of the redesigned interior and cockpit to create the digital stage, the dynamic interaction light facilitates communication between the vehicle and its occupants. Consisting of 84 LEDs, it is located below the windshield and is illuminated in a large arc extending from the left to the right A-pillar. In addition to a welcome function, the interaction light also features a special lighting sequence that is activated when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. It also supports safety by displaying the dynamic turn signal, but this only ever serves as an additional display and does not replace the turn signal in the Audi virtual cockpit.

Exceptional features: exceptional experience
Many comfort-enhancing features make travelling in the A6 Avant simply a first-class experience. The sophisticated aeroacoustics also enrich audio enjoyment, especially with the premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen, which comes as part of the optional Sound & Vision pack. The top-of-the-range version pack, which is available on S line and Edition 1, is equipped with two additional speakers in each of the front headrests, taking sound experience to a new level. Outstanding 3D sound is produced by a total of 16 or 20 speakers, including a highly efficient amplifier and a subwoofer, with 685 or 810 watts respectively. The headrest speakers create a personal surround sound and an even more immersive musical experience. They also enable very precise audio output: navigation prompts and phone calls are directed specifically to the driver.

The four-zone automatic climate control package enables a particularly high level of climate comfort, as it regulates the air temperature, volume, and distribution separately for the driver, front passenger, and outer rear seats. At the same time, passengers in the back seat can adjust the settings using a separate climate control unit in the centre console.

Fuel-efficient and high-performance: MHEV plus technology
At its launch, the new A6 Avant will be available with two different engines in the UK – one petrol and one diesel. The diesel unit features mild hybrid technology (MHEV plus) and is therefore partially electrified. The MHEV plus system supports the combustion-engine vehicle, enhances performance and ride quality, and reduces CO2 emissions.

The electric driving components can also be used when driving slowly in the city, in slow-moving traffic, or outside city limits when coasting to the next village. In these situations, the A6 Avant runs solely on the powertrain generator, making it particularly efficient.

A boost of up to 18 kW: MHEV plus technology supports the combustion-engine vehicle, for example when starting up in stop-and-go traffic or when passing. To do this, the powertrain generator produces additional torque up to 230Nm and up to 18 kW (24 PS) of power.

A6 Avant 2.0 TFSI 204PS: The entry-level variant with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, has a start-stop system as standard to reduce fuel consumption and is only available with front-wheel drive. It delivers 204 PS and generates a maximum torque of 340Nm.

A6 Avant 2.0 TDI 204PS: The 2.0 TDI delivers 204 PS and a maximum torque of 400Nm.

The perfect blend of sportiness and comfort: the chassis
The new A6 Avant impresses with its extremely comfortable ride, a strength that is particularly apparent on longer journeys. It embodies the business class experience like no other model. The A6 Avant effortlessly perfects the synthesis of sportiness and comfort in line with driving characteristics typical of Audi: precise, controlled, solid, connected, and well-balanced – or, in short, the Audi DNA.

The front and rear axles of the new Audi A6 Avant use a five-link design, largely made of aluminium. Two subframes – the front being rigidly mounted and the rear hydraulically mounted – connect the control arms to the body.

Three suspension setups available for UK models:

Standard suspension, designed to be even more comfortable than its predecessor. This is standard on Sport specification.

Sports suspension, which lowers the body by 20mm for distinctly sporty handling comes on S line and Edition 1 specifications.

Adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled damping, which gives the vehicle a wide range of options between a very smooth, comfortable ride and sporty handling. This is an optional extra across the range.

The optional adaptive air suspension with adjustable damping on all four wheels regulates the body height and shock absorption. The adaptive air suspension automatically balances out the vehicle load, ensuring the car stays level. Compared to the standard suspension, the A6 Avant is 20mm lower in normal mode (balanced, comfort, and efficiency mode), the same as with the sports suspension. In dynamic mode, the ride height is lowered by another 10mm for a sporty driving feel. To reduce drag, the body is lowered to the low level at speeds above 75mph even in balanced and efficiency modes. In contrast, the lift function raises the A6 Avant by 20mm above the normal level and can now be used up to a speed of 53mph. This function ensures safety and forward momentum even in challenging driving conditions, such as on snowy or uneven roads.

The dynamic handling system Audi drive select is used to adjust the vehicle’s steering and drivetrain settings. The spread between the driving modes has been increased: handling in dynamic mode is noticeably tighter and sportier, while comfort mode is designed for smooth, comfortable driving on long journeys. And thanks to the Audi assistant, the adaptive air suspension can now be operated by voice control for the first time in the A6, with simple commands like “raise the vehicle” or “lower the air suspension.”

Progressive and efficient: quattro all-wheel drive
In the UK, the all-wheel-drive system quattro ultra is standard the 2.0 TDI 204PS engine variant. It flexibly distributes torque to maximize efficiency while also providing all the benefits of quattro for even greater driving safety and dynamics. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch distributes torque between the front and rear axles over a wide range, as required by the specific driving situation. For excellent fuel efficiency, the rear axle of the quattro ultra is automatically decoupled under partial load insofar as the driving situation allows. When taking corners dynamically, accelerating sharply, or when the friction coefficient of the road surface requires it, the quattro system’s electronically controlled multi-plate clutch connects the front and rear axles and distributes the tractive force flexibly to where it is needed. If you accelerate hard out of a corner, power is distributed more towards the rear. In this driving situation, the power distribution between the front and rear axles is around 30:70.

Perfected: highly connected control system with brake torque vectoring
Whether in terms of how the car handles bends, its longitudinal dynamics or ride quality, the advantages of the highly connected control system can be felt at all times. Compared to its predecessor, Audi has improved the interplay between the suspension control and drive systems in the new A6. The integrated brake control system, the controlled dampers, and the engine management system work together even faster and more precisely. The result is perfected handling.

Thanks to brake torque vectoring – wheel-selective momentum control – the new A6 Avant can manoeuvre even better through curves. Brake torque vectoring constantly monitors the current driving situation and counteracts any understeer; when the wheels on the inside of the curve lose traction, they are gently braked. Due to this targeted braking intervention and the resulting difference in propulsive forces, the Audi A6 steering is more direct and reacts more immediately to the given situation. The handling is therefore more precise, safer, and more agile.

Improved handling: progressive steering
The reworked and now more direct steering contributes significantly to the comfortable yet equally dynamic handling of the new A6 Avant. Compared to its predecessor, the entire path from the steering wheel to the wheels is designed to be stiffer. This includes the torsion bar at the steering gear, the rigidly bolted steering rack, and the stiffer control arm bushings. Camber on the front axle has also been slightly increased. All in all, these measures result in a noticeably improved steering response and more feedback from the road, which makes for precise and light-footed vehicle handling.

The A6 Avant comes standard with electromechanical progressive steering. The steering ratio varies depending on the steering angle: at small steering angles, such as on the highway, the steering is more indirect to prevent any nervous behaviour from influencing the steering. At larger steering angles, the ratio is increasingly more direct, reducing the amount of physical effort required to steer in city traffic and when parking. Moreover, the progressive steering provides a sporty driving feel in tight corners. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system can be used to vary the steering characteristics – specifically steering weight – in several modes.

A first for the A6: integrated brake control system
The A6 uses an integrated, blending-capable brake control system (iBRS). With this brake-by wire technology, the brake pedal and brake hydraulics are completely decoupled. In the variants with MHEV plus technology, the system calculates whether the desired braking effect can be achieved by regenerative braking using the electric motor – that is, the powertrain generator – or whether the friction brakes on the front and rear axles must also be activated. In a fraction of a second, the control unit calculates how much braking force needs to be produced by the friction brakes. A piston in the brake hydraulics then applies the necessary pressure. Brake feel remains the same as the pedal is depressed, with the transition between regenerative and friction braking imperceptibly smooth and homogeneous, and the braking forces remaining constant.

The new A6 Avant uses Android Automotive OS as its operating system for the infotainment system. The vehicle updates all content via over-the-air updates. This is how Audi ensures that all connect services always remain current. Numerous third-party apps including Spotify, YouTube, and news services can be downloaded from the Audi application store, which, like the smartphone interface, is standard. These are integrated directly into the MMI of the A6 Avant – a smartphone is not required for either downloading or using the interface.

With the improved and more intuitive touchscreen operation, customers can ideally utilize the advantages of the newly designed operating and display concept.

The new Audi A6 Avant is equipped with numerous modern driver assistance systems as standard.

Production, launch, and pricing
The new Audi A6 Avant will be built at the Neckarsulm plant, where its predecessors also came off the line. The Neckarsulm workforce will assemble the model alongside the new A5 series, which is also based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). To make production processes as efficient as possible, Audi has fundamentally modernized and expanded the plant. Numerous innovations in paintwork, body construction, and automation are already being used for the new A5 and A6 models.

Milton Keynes, February 20, 2025 – Audi is strengthening the Q4 e-tron model lineup by adding a new entry-level variant. The fully electric premium model offers extensive standard equipment, a range of up to 258 miles, and DC charging power of 165kW. With manual battery preconditioning and predictive maintenance reminders, the Q4 40 e-tron ensures even more convenience and ease in everyday driving. The entry-level model with a 63kWh battery can be ordered starting March 13.

The Audi Q4 e-tron was the UK’s second best-selling electric vehicle in 2024. To broaden the appeal of Audi’s Q4 e-tron family, as well as lower the price point, Audi UK is introducing a new entry-level version with a smaller 63kWh battery. This enables an electric range of up to 250 miles for the SUV bodystyle and 258 miles for the Sportback. Under ideal conditions, the battery’s state of charge (SoC) increases from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes when charged at a fast-charging station. Up to 93 miles (Sportback: 96 miles) of range can be added to the battery in just 10 minutes. The maximum DC charging power is 165 kW.

The Q4 40 e-tron can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 8.1 seconds, hit a top speed of 99mph, and has a combined electric power consumption of 3.9 miles/kWh. At the rear axle, a permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) with 204PS (150kW) of power and high efficiency as well as superior power delivery provides the propulsion. The towing capacity of both model variants is 1,000kg at an incline of 12 percent and 1,200kg at an eight-percent incline.

Shorter charging stops and peace of mind for maintenance
Just like with the other members of the Q4 family, charging times are optimised for the Q4 40 e-tron thanks to the intelligent route planner and the automatic battery-preconditioning function connected to it.

Drivers who like to plan their charging stops themselves now have the option of manually enabling battery preheating. The manual preconditioning is carried out via the MMI, which shows how many kilowatt are currently available for fast-charging the high-voltage battery and how much additional charging power is available thanks to the preconditioned battery. Manually preconditioning the battery ensures the best possible charging results at every charging station.

Optimal connectivity for every situation
As with the other variants of the Q4 e-tron lineup, the Audi application store is available in the MMI of the Q4 40 e-tron. Without using a smartphone, it offers access to a large and increasing selection of popular apps in the categories of news and podcasts, sports and games, and videos and entertainment. To use this, a one-year 25 GB data package is already included and can be activated via Cubic Telecom*. The data connection is established directly via the vehicle’s external antenna, which improves signal quality and saves smartphone battery power.

Thanks to extensive navigation content, customers can plan their vehicle charging with pinpoint accuracy. Filters can be used to define the desired battery charge level at a destination or to select charging stations from specific providers – for example, IONITY. The smartphone interface connects a smartphone to the vehicle and seamlessly transfers its content directly to the MMI touch display. Certain content, such as navigation, telephony, music, and selected third-party apps, can be transmitted wirelessly or via a USB-C cable.

ChatGPT includes a variety of options that go beyond the previous voice control. With the upgraded voice-operated system, infotainment, navigation, and climate settings can be controlled and everyday questions can be asked. Since the information can be requested in normal, ordinary language, driving is safer because the driver can always keep their eyes on the road.

ChatGPT is provided by Azure OpenAI Service. The basis for this new feature for Audi customers is Cerence Inc.’s Chat Pro solution with automotive-grade ChatGPT integration.

Premium standard features at a lower price point
A new entry point to Audi’s fully electric lineup, the Q4 40 e-tron is priced from £46,600 in the UK. The Q4 Sportback 40 e-tron starts at £48,100. The extensive standard equipment includes Audi MMI navigation plus, Audi connect navigation & infotainment, and the fully digital 10.25-inch Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster.

Ingolstadt, February 3, 2025 – Global standardization and clear orientation for all customers: Audi is strengthening the alphanumeric format of its nomenclature. Going forward, it will represent the size and positioning of each model globally in a unified and transparent way. The previous distinction between electric vehicles and models with combustion engines according to their number no longer applies.

“This decision is the result of intensive discussions and also follows the wishes of our customers as well as feedback from our international dealers,” says Marco Schubert, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “Our nomenclature now provides all customers worldwide with an intuitive orientation in our portfolio. We choose the names of our models in a way that reveals size and positioning at first glance.”

Going forward, the global alphanumeric model name will consist of one or more letters and a number. The letters A and Q continue to signify the distinction between low-floor and high-floor vehicles. The numbers – currently from one to eight – enable a clear classification independent of the type of powertrain. As a result, the previous distinction between different drivetrain technologies according to even and odd model numbers no longer applies.

Thanks to the orientation according to size and positioning, all-electric models can share the same combination of letters and numbers with combustion-engine vehicles. The necessary differentiation between models and variants in the portfolio is done using the body style (e.g. Avant, Sedan, or Sportback) and the – already established – powertrain code (e.g. e-tron, TFSI e, TFSI, or TDI).

The first new model to use this nomenclature will be the combustion-engine-equipped Audi A6. It stands for the brand’s long and successful history in the full-size segment and will be revealed globally on March 4. Thanks to the powertrain code, the A6 Avant TFSI for example, will be clearly differentiated from the all-electric A6 Avant e-tron. No retroactive name changes are planned concerning models already on sale.
