Glasgow’s BGCP Comic Con event will take place at The Forge Shopping Centre on August 12 and 13.
Fans of comic books are encouraged to don their cherished costumes, grab their preferred props, and attend this epic event!
The shopping centre, based in the East End of Glasgow, will host more than 60 traders, artists, toys, crafts, and meet and greets from 10am to 4pm.
The BGCP (Big Glasgow Comic Page) has humble beginnings. What started in 2012 as a simple way to encourage more comic fans to engage with each other is now a series of annual events held across Scotland.
The size of the convention varies depending on the specific event and year, but it typically attracts around 10,000 attendees.
It’s been several years since The Forge last provided space for one of the BGCP’s highly anticipated comic book events.
Jade Wilkie, marketing manager at The Forge, said: “We’re honoured to have once again partnered with the BGCP this year. We’re huge fans of comic books and the community, so this is perfect.
“Plus, we’re no strangers to offering fun free events that appeal to all ages, so this perfectly fits in.
“Exciting family activities can feel very few and far between these days – especially in the digital age – not to mention incredibly costly. So, we’re delighted to be able to offer yet another free family event this summer.”
Activities will include time-specific “meet and greets” with Spider-Man, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Shrek. Plus, attendees will be able to relax and game out with the pop-up Free Gaming Arcade inside the centre’s market village area.
Several Marvel, DC, and Star Wars statues will be dotted around the shopping centre for attendees to find and win a prize, as well as lots of movie and TV props on display across the three-unit event.
Ian, owner of BGCP Comic Con, said: “BGCP is delighted to be returning to The Forge Shopping Centre with a large-scale event after years away.
“This is our biggest outing yet in the Eastend, so we hope people attend from far and wide to enjoy a great family-friendly event that doesn’t break the bank and enjoy everything that the centre has to offer while there.”
Jade continued: “Come along and ‘Marvel’ at the wonderful world of comic books. It might be a ‘Stark’ contrast to your usual summer activities, but we ‘Thor-t’ this event is a must-see.”
Entry is free; however, tickets must be booked via www.bcgp.co.uk
